I doubt GB sees a more than spot minutes unless it driven by injury. But, I really like his potential. I think he more of a three. He has greatly athleticism, joy just on dunks but laterally.big arms/hands, aggression and energy. All the hallmarks to be a great wing defender. Then add on offense his slashing (I miss slashers) and I think he’s built for the 3. Defense won’t be good this year, But if he makes strides and shows any passion for D I think it’ll pay huge long term to treat GB as a wing.

So you're saying he's not Thomas Robinson, he's Travis Outlaw?

TO didn’t have the mentality to attack or believe in himself. Looks like GB might. I’d take a more confident TO anytime. Thomas Robinson could leap out the gym but I never saw him use that athleticism laterally or really doing anything aside from running downhill and jumping.

no idea if GB will succeed but he does have truly elite athleticism and a fearlessness. There’s no reason he couldn’t play spot 4 and be 5 down the road but I think it’s best to start his career on the perimeter. This falls apart quickly if his shots don’t fall. If his shots aren’t at least average then move him to 4 I guess. But if his shooting is decent then at 3 he can stretch, slash and collapse the D, if he can dish then we have star potential.

I know it's nothing and everyone does it but it makes me irrationally excited to see this kid working out at the PF 2-3x a day on a long weekend.

I really like this kid! Effort and enthusiasm isn't taught, you have it or you don't.

Every time this thread pops back up I read it as a different Greg and have flashbacks.

The funny thing is that this Greg wouldn't even have to end up great to have a better career than the other Greg. Just be good enough to stick in the league and stay healthy. Holy shit! Oden was a #1 pick. This guy could be better! Haha

Good point. But planning on this kid helping us succeed this season, let alone even hit the court is no different than expecting the 65 wins......only setting yourself up for a letdown.

Much like planning on a Dame/CJ led team getting us to contender status.

GB and MC are same height and both athletic. MC outweighs GB by about 30 pounds at this point.

Miley Cyrus is 6'7? never would have guessed!

by the way, at pre-draft Brown was measured as 6'7.25; Chriss was measured at 6'8.75. Same wingspan though

And Dame measured 6"1.75" barefooted.....how many guys play the game barefooted?

then why did the NBA 'force' teams to stop listing in-shoe's heights?

Chriss was measured as 1.5" taller than Brown. If they both wore shoes with 2" of lift, Chriss would still be 1.5" taller.

to put another way, if somebody was 6'5 but wore 3" high shoes, and somebody was 6.7, but wore 1" high shoes...."look, they are the same height!"

If you combined Brown and Watford you'd have a lottery pick talent.

It was mostly in garbage time, but the uber-raw GBIII showed some signs against the Bucks, including a very smooth, fairly quick release '3' to go along with his ridiculous athleticism.

This may have been posted already, but dug around to see why such a highly recruited kid didn't go till the 2nd round.

His shot needs work, I think every jumper I’ve seen him attempt has looked different. He’s also very sped up in everything he does, so maybe it’s just more of that. His defensive instincts are actually pretty good for such a raw player though. But yeah, he looks at least another year of development away from being a rotational player.

I kinda feel like his body needs to fill out.

I think he's a guy more focused on inventing different dunks than becoming a better fundamental basketball player.

idk if that’s fair; if he wasn’t worried about fundamentals he wouldn’t be out there trying to take charges to the point of leaving his own man to do it (saw him do that last night)

He’s just super raw and has a lot to learn. But he seems willing, to me at least.

Some players take time and others don't. Yes the draft is a crap shoot. But players are better college players then they ever be a pro player and vice versa. Then there some are just basketball players that don't stand out in any category when they do there evaluations on them.

Your mileage may differ.

Jerami: 6’7, 7’2” wingspan, 8’11 standing reach, 39th pick
Brown: 6’8, 7’0” wingspan, 8’11 standing reach, 43rd pick

Greg’s PER, rebound, block, and steal rates are superior to Jeramis career rates. Identical free throw and turnover rates. Obviously a difference in minutes, but I’m a believer that rebound, block, and steal rates translate to larger roles. And Browns shooting efficiency has actually gone up with more minutes; he’s averaging 45% from field, 33% from three, and 73% from the line in 17mpg in February.

Would be hilarious if we just found Jerami at home. This staff really deserves credit at developing players. Would’ve never guessed Brown would contribute as a rookie.

GB3 is a more intelligent, higher-ceiling version of Trout.

I mean no disrespect to Trout, as he was a fun person and fun to watch. I feel like Trout lacked any sort of killer instinct, but GB3 enjoys those moments. He can get cocky, and I like that, as long as he can properly channel it.

who is trout, outlaw?

Maybe showing signs? He is now going to get regular minutes which I hope all the young kids do. In his last 4 games:

16.7 minutes
10.7 ppg
4 rpg
73% FT
33% from '3'
45% FG (one bad game of 4-13 really brought that down)
0.75 blocks

Per 36:
23 ppg
8.6 rpg
1.6 blocks
