As the Boston Celtics continue working to include forward Tayshaun Prince in a trade package, the organization plans to be accommodating with him on a contract buyout after the trade deadline should no deal emerge, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

As a free agent, Prince could become the most coveted player on the market this month – with the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers promising to be strong contenders, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Prince is a native of Los Angeles.

Prince, 34, is still capable of delivering solid minutes off the bench for a contender. The balance of his $7.7 million expiring deal makes it hard for Boston to find short-term expiring contracts in return for Prince.

That would be something if we got him, because I had a dream a few nights ago that the Blazers acquired him. And I don't recall his name coming up in any rumors beforehand.

If we get him, that means we must let someone go or make an unbalanced trade ... hmmm

I would be down with this. Nothing to lose. But you have to figure Doc and Cp3 will win this one

Most irrelevant addition possible? Not sure he'd play over Victor and Vic don't play.

This is going to become the official "Let's see who is flippy floppy" thread.

Sure id take him for free. If we have to give up something for him then fuck that.

He's actually been solid for Boston:

8.4 PPG | 56 FG% | 17 PER

I think this is an interesting move if it's real. Prince can definitely defend 2nd string SFs coming off the bench. Come playoff time he'd be an asset. If it happens, I wonder who will be playing for the stampede? I always liked Prince's game and this could be a good fit for him. Victor is a 4 and Crabbe is a 3..who wears the suit and who moves to Idaho?

You almost get the sense this is where they're headed. It's possible something gets done but if there was a deal likely, I would have thought one would have gone down by now.

I agree with Pinwheel, I wouldnt rest on the idea that you will win the Prince sweepstakes over LA, Doc and CP3. I hope Neil is wiser than that.

I was hoping the Blazers would go after him before he signed with the Celtics.

I wanted Prince for Zach Randolph in 2007. Not interested nowadays though. Doesn't excite me. Does have title experience though.

.

I thought this too but then I looked back at last years deadline and there was 1 trade made the day before the deadline. The rest got done the day of.

he was. Don't listen to anything he says
Sometimes I wonder if he's serious.... How can someone by this.... Okay, okay, I promised sly with a handshake deal.... No personal insults

I can't wait for @TheNBACentral to report that we're trading Aldridge for Prince.

That kind of drivel is below a well respected media outlet like thenbacentral.

I dont think Prince is an effective NBA player anymore. Not worth a roster spot IMO.

Same here. Maybe if a spot opens up via trade, sure, but nothing to cut someone for, and nothing to get excited about.

Prince is approximately as exciting as Blake (take that however you choose). He's definitely an upgrade over Wright.

Chandler seems to be plan A. Prince is plan B.
I wonder if there is anyway Neil is putting the word out about Prince so Denver thinks we have other options? Thus attempting to stop them from holding out for more. Maybe we are not interested in Prince at all.......
