I don't remember people hating Strickland in his first shift with us but then there was no internet. It was when Strickland returned in 2001 when everything fell apart and he got blamed. Why aren't Sheed, ZBo, and Aldridge on this list? Great PFs but constantly hated on in Portland.

Actually, I don't remember Rod getting blamed when the 2001 team nosedived. That was totally on Whitsitt. Rod actually tried to fit in and didn't cause any problems (he wasn't even here two months).

Strick behaved really well, he bonded with Coach Adelman, but did not get along with PJ Carlesimo at all.

The list - well, IMHO there is a big difference between:
1) A draft pick who turned out to just be not that good
2) A highly paid free agent showing up out of shape
3) A guy fighting dogs

#1, he just isn't that talented, bummer, but not done anything wrong.
#2, wasting money and hope, taking a roster spot that could have gone to a productive player.
#3, go to hell, go directly to hell, do not pass go, do not collect $2 million

I definitely hate as passionately as I love. My list of most-hated:

Turner
Aminu
Aldridge
Outlaw
Anderson
Abdur-Rahim

Prior to SAR I was less jaded, and can't really pick out any players I particularly hated.

Wallace? Wells? Fernandez? Anderson? Rider? Patterson? Randolph? Telfair? Kemp? Bowie? Walton?

EDIT: Oh, yeah. "Willamette Week," lol...

I think LMA was hated more after he left, not really as much while he was still here (except for blue9, of course).

Most Hated: McLillard
Most Loved: Nurk, Collins, and PatC

I can't even type that stuff without smiling.
:)

Rod didn't do anything specifically wrong but the team was playing great (1 seed) before he got there and then plummeted to 7 seed.

"LaMarshmallow" started long before he left. People were extremely "critical" of him while he played here.

I'm well aware of that, but that was Bob "I'm Not a Chemisrty Major" Whitsitt's fault. Adding yet another guy who had been a starter his whole career to a roster that was already bursting with playing time issues was the straw that broke the camel's back. I don't remember anyone blaming Rod, or hating him for it. There were no "Trade Strickland" signs in the crowd at the Rose Garden that April.

What the fuck is the WW's sudden interest in sports? Isn't their readership rock hard for the next Reed College expose? Nah. I think I'll pass on this one.

They were bought by Fansided.

I thought outside Oregon the moniker Jail blazers was created.. Where did it come from?

Damn, Wook...you should've included Fatty McDonut and I could've called it "the Wookie's Dozen." (TM)
I could see Wallace for wasting everyone's time with his fetish for collecting technicals.

Correlation doesn't equal causality.

Though i do agree with that... Getting stood up at the altar hurts a lot more. Getting lied to hurts more than just underperforming, imo

I'm too young to really remember hating any of the players in the late 90s very - early 2000s, but Blakey is the first player I can remember really not liking.
