There is a lot of discussion about this on the Blazers subreddit. People are pretty pissed off. The guy who replaced him was fucking horrible tonight.

The working theory is that it was over one of two recent tweets.

Either this one

Or this one.

This is the caliber of tweet we are getting now...

Something I will never understand about the Blazers, they cater to whatever Standard Operating Procedures are league-friendly, safe and accepted for the "greater good." Got two announcers thst are homers?? Replace them with a crew that appeals to a bland national demographic. Try to get free agents here... "Aww shucks.... It's really not that bad. Please sign with us. We'll pay you guys well." The rest of the league is already carving up our Glimmer Twins and depositing somewhere else and we still have never hosted the All-Star game. Maybe we should say "Fuck You!" .... One of these days when a talented player or some talentless shock jock asks for an apology or a head on a platter. San Antonio didn't get to be San Antonio by losing their regional identity and adopting every tired format possible.

Literally nothing wrong with either tweet. Jesus, Mcgowan.

If he was fired for either one of those tweets, McG has no sense of humor and is more thin skinned than I thought. He's spot on with the tweet about Smith and as for the Durant one, KD was having fun and it was a off the cuff slightly humorous response. And for something to be funny, it usually has some basis in truth.

Is it a fact that he was "fired" and not something like "got a job that probably pays better"?

Quite certain.

yeah, I saw that on his twitter page. I do think that fans always go for the conspiracy theories though, even if they make no sense and have no basis in logic

Just saying, if he doesn't know what's next and is soliciting job prospects, it's probably a safe assumption that he didn't exit voluntarily.

Thanked just about everyone....but McG.

Also doesn't thank Paul Allen, Kevin Calabro, Lamar Hurd, Mike Barret, Mike Rice or HCP.

I bet HCP got him canned.

It was probably the first tweet. The Blazers organization doesn't like to be criticized. No matter how accurate it is.

From the looks of it, the tweet at ESPN wasn't all that great representing the team.

While I don't know why Cody is no longer working for the Blazers I do know it was not for being too negative or edgy on twitter.

This is the VP who oversees the Blazers social media department. He got his job here by pushing the limits on social media.

I do know that the head of the social media department just left to work for a NHL team where he grew up and where his family lives. Kris Koivisto, who some of you have met, also left a few months back to get an amazing job in San Diego, does social for the Grammy's and Fox Movies. The Blazers have won the best social media department in all of sports multiple years in a row. There are major opportunities available to the employees in that department. Cody could have left to explore those.

Also don't judge the new guy based on just one tweet. Pick your favorite comedian and you can find jokes they've told that have just bombed. When you're tweeting 50 times a night during a game you are going to have a few clunkers.

Hey--don't ruin our story with your facts!

First off, good luck Cody. If he did get fired for one or both of those tweets, it doesn't make much sense. Cody is a hillarious guy, will be missed. That said, is there an opening? I'd be awesome at that job. What am I talking about, I'd get fired the first day.

Put me down as a reference. I'll talk you up.

I don't buy that. He clearly had nothing lined up at the time of his dismissal. It's also very evident that anybody in the Blazers organization that rubs management the wrong way gets canned. They have been operating that way for many years.

He slid into Heidi Klum's DMs via the Blazers twitter account.

Except we don't know if he was dismissed or just left.

I do know that he worked for his old boss at a MLS team. When his boss left to work for the Blazers he left his job to join him here. Now his boss left to work for an NHL team. It wouldn't surprise me if Cody ends up at the same NHL team.
