Blazers getting "Closer" to reaching a deal

DALLAS -- With six days until the NBA trade deadline and all the general managers in one place for competition committee meetings, this is when the bluffs start to fade and trade talks get more serious.

Along those lines, league sources said the Bulls are intensifying efforts to parlay Tyrus Thomas into expiring contracts and future draft picks.

The latest news is old news in that the Bulls have contacted the Knicks again regarding Al Harrington's availability. Those teams also talked in a rumor that leaked in early December.

A deal involving Thomas and Jannero Pargo for Harrington would need other salaries to work under the collective bargaining agreement.

Portland's interest in Thomas is believed not to be serious. Denver also is hesitant to take on a player whose qualifying offer is $6.2 million this summer as a restricted free agent.

Thomas also is being shopped as part of larger deals involving John Salmons and Kirk Hinrich, according to league sources. The Bulls are making clear to teams they will not take back salary as part of any deal.

3. We need more assholes on this team. Assholes=Attitude. We have too many nice guys on this team, and the Juwan Howard incident that happened the other day illustrated that. Somebody on the team should have been pissed off well before that.

4. If the Bulls were trying to give him away, then why isn't a deal done? The reason is because they aren't giving him away, and they are asking for more. Every article out there says the Bulls are asking for more from suitors.

5. I wasn't comparing Chuck Hayes to Tyrus Thomas. I was stating that a players size does not matter as long as the position they play they are effective at.

6. Many PF in this league have been tremendously successful at approximately 6'8" tall. They may not be KG versatile at that size, but they can still be good players. 2 of the best defensive PF in league history were 6'8" tall. Buck Williams and Dennis Rodman. Not 6'11".

As someone else stated in another thread the type of asshole you want and the type of asshole Tyrus is are two totally different things.

Tyrus is a player who feels he is entitled to big minutes and a lot of touches. When he doesn't get what he wants he pouts on the bench like a bitch and loafs on the court.

You are thinking of a dude like Capt. Jack who gets under dudes skin, talks junk, and can be a malcontent. He also plays hard all the time and has the ability to back his smack.

Tyrus is no Capt. Jack. Not even close.

The two players are not "practically the same". Thomas is a much better player and he's almost three years younger.

But he's 30 lbs lighter than Dontonio Wingfield.
