So, trade Blake for James Jones, and then use the injury exception to sign Dwayne Jones? Is that the (Kingspeed exclusive) consensus?

Who knows. Maybe the Blazers have a wing defender in mind from the D-League or off the scrap heap and will angle to trade some warm bodies (ie. expiring contracts) for Marcin Gortat.

I'd consider that guy, Mike Harris,looks like a small forward. It's based on only 7 games in the D-league but he is shooting .595 overall and .460 from three with 7 rebounds a game.

Here's a writeup from draftexpress (from observations of a summer league game):

"Harris earns mention here for having one of the most efficient performances we’ve seen this Summer League. He has great athleticism and strength, and while he did most of his damage inside, he stepped out a knocked down a couple a deep jumpers. Harris was dominant when he got the ball with room to operate, his leaping ability makes him a very good finisher, and he’s almost impossible to stop when he has a head of steam. He showed great touch at the rim, and isn’t afraid of contact. His aggressive nature earned him a ton of rebounds and he effectively compensated for the absence of Joey Dorsey. Harris is a great combo forward, and showed today that he can do a lot of things well. If he keeps this up he’s on his way to..."

Just checked out some more stats; in a previous stint in D-league (48 games), he shot 61% and also in college he always shot 60% plus.

Also, he''s a bit older (26 I think), he's spent some significant time in the NBA so he knows the routine, and he's a big body, warm body...

Yeah 4 TOs...but look how many minutes...it's like a TO every 16 minutes. I don't really know him, I just know one of our holes is C/PF which he fills and his rebounding stats are good.

I don't think Stackhouse would sign a deal like that, however. He would know he's getting waived in 4 weeks. He's not going to show up and go through practices for a small amount of money in December. He'll hang around until March.

I saw a great list the other day about the top-10 d-league call up prospects...but can't find it. The list headed with a PG and I think Rod Benson was #4.

Personally, we need to get a SG/SF in the mix here soon. How about Von Wafer? Heard his European team is mad they signed him.

In any case, the only SF on the team is Webster, and Roy is playing the backup SF minutes (when Blake/Bayless/Miller are playing the PG/SG).

Our depth chart looks like:

Miller/Blake
Roy/Bayless
Webster/Roy
LMA/Howard/Cunningham
Pryzbilla/LMA

It's pretty bad when the best two players on the team are the primary backup at positions other than their own....they can't rest almost at all. A three big-man rotation with Pryz/Howard/LMA is workable, but running Roy around like that isn't. We need a SG/SF to fill the void and give some time for Roy to rest. Clearly.

If Roy and Aldridge can handle 38+ minutes a game, it's actually not such a bad idea to have them on the floor as much as possible. I wanted a 9 man rotation, but not like this. I think having Roy, Fernandez and Bayless be the primary guards, Batum and Webster be the primary 3s, and Aldridge, Oden, Pryzbilla and Cunningham being the primary 4 and 5's is a good rotation.

Yes I left out Blake, Miller and Outlaw. I did that for a reason. I really think they aren't suited for the tandem of Oden, Roy and Aldridge. And those three should always have 30+ minutes a game at all times. Hell if they can handle it, 35+ minutes. The more those three play together on the floor, even if it's with them playing other positions, the better. It will force them to get to know each other more. Figure out how they cut, eye signals, sweet spots, etc.

The Portland Trail Blazers signed forward Anthony Tolliver, it was announced today by General Manager Kevin Pritchard. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Portland called up Tolliver (6-9, 240) from the team’s NBA Development League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede.

"Anthony has had a very good season with the Idaho Stampede so far," said Pritchard. "He should be ready to go for tonight, and we look forward to him joining our roster."

Tolliver, 24, is averaging 20.7 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals in seven starts for the Stampede. A third-year pro out of Creighton University, he played 19 games last season for the San Antonio Spurs, posting averages of 2.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 10.9 minutes.

The Trail Blazers were granted a hardship exemption as a result of having at least four players miss three straight games and be expected to sit out an additional two weeks apiece. The exemption allowed Portland to sign Tolliver and bring its roster to 16 players.

Tolliver, who becomes the D-League’s second Gatorade Call-Up of the season, will wear No. 44.
