Blazers have talked to San Antonio about Kawhi

That one is really tough because if the Spurs don't want CJ I don't know if we have the type of offers to compete with other teams.

If I'm the Spurs some other teams have some intriguing offers (just the teams mentioned):
Denver - Michael Porter Jr, Gary Harris, and a future 1st
LAC - Something around Tobias Harris? We could probably beat their offers.
Phoenix - Has a ton of young guys like Josh Jackson, Chriss, Bender, Bridges, and Okobo plus contracts to match salary
Toronto - Has a young guy like OG but I'm not sure if they have enough unless SA wanted DeRozan.
Washington - Would likely offer Otto Porter.

Now that I look at it, I guess we have just as good of a shot as any of those teams. The problem is that list doesn't include LAL, Philly, or Boston who could all blow away any package by the other 26 teams.
Toronto has Delon Wright and Jakob Poeltl too. A wright/Murray backcourt would be amazing.

Bones and I combined thoughts to get Covington and Butler but what if we just switch Butler and Kawhi.

CJ for Covington, Bayless, rights to Jonah Bolden, and Miami's 2021 1st round pick unprotected.

Then add the 2021 1st round pick from Miami to our package for Kawhi. Now we are in the realm of competing with any other team's offers.

Gosh, Kahwi has certainly put SA in a tough place.

I actually think SA has put themselves in a tough position, they deserve this. Kawhi has said basically nothing in a year, SA is the one talking all the time. Throwing him under the bus constantly, this is one of those things where the spurs were very unspur like, should’ve kept their mouths shut.

He really can't have much value at this point. If he's willing to sit out the season and he's a UFA after next year..... they don't really deserve to get anything valuable for him.

It seems like the Lakers might get cocky again and wait until next year.

Does Boston really see Tatum or Kawhi as a SG? They would be interesting together.
I am sure they would offer Brown. But who is the filler to make it work?

Philly has a shit load of options to move.

Ok cool. Harkless, Aminu, and our pick next year or Simons.

There is only one team i bet he goes too, Sixers. Nice way to move KL to the east where he will star/big market, but most of all Pops relationship with Brown.
Sixers have plenty of players and/or pics that would be good for Spurs.
The only way he stays in the West, POP gets the players/pic's he wants. Thats not going to happen for a potential one year rental.

Or all 4.

Edit: One thing to keep in mind is that Simons and Trent can't be traded for a couple more weeks still as you have to wait 30 days after you sign them.

Boston has too many damn wings. It's just goofy.

Part of me agrees, but part of me feels like SA deserves the benefit of the doubt considering their track record. Especially the fact that Pop spoke out and alluded to Kawhi's advisors as having the answers. And Pop is by all accounts one cool dude. Also, by saying NOTHING, it feels like Kawhi is really saying something. Being invisible and not being with the team during the playoffs is also fucked. But who knows...

Of all the ex-Blazers I have irrationally fond feelings for, Vonleh is very much not one. And the only fond feelings anyone could have for Vonleh would have to be irrational.

IDK, Vonleh is still a bit of a mystery. Per 36 he was averaging something like 14 pts, 13 reb, and taking 5 3pt attempts/game (.300, not good, but that could improve given the number of attempts). I would rather have Vonleh than Swanigan or K. Leonard at the 4.

But, supposedly, Sixers won't trade Simmons, Embiid, or Fultz, so what else would they offer?

If we did gut our forwards, the FA pool is pretty barren.

Alan Williams
Trevor Booker
Vonleh
Michael Beasley
David West
Quincy Acy

Wed probably be better off looking to Europe to fill the hole. Anthony Randolph for example.

How could you forget Nunnally....

I can't imagine any agent suggesting he leaves 20 million or so on the table? Since there hasn't been a trade as yet, its possible he resigns.
Or, he puts pressure on the Lakers someway to give SA what they want, in exchange for him going there a year early.

I think this would be a fair trade.

They still have a lot to offer: Covington, Saric, Korkmaz, Zhaire Smith, rights to Bolden/Lessort/Pasecniks, all their future 1sts, and Miami's 2021 unprotected 1st.

He's going to leave more than that on the table if he leaves San Antonio. He's eligible for the super max, and I think someone said that was around $220 million. If he's traded, I think the most he can get is $180 million. So he will be leaving $40 million on the table if he leaves the Spurs.

I cant image they would trade Fultz. He could be the key player along with others and picks.
Why wouldn't you trade Fultz in a package for KL?

That and Brown's relationship with Kawhi, which I heard is good and might make him think they can resign him after one year.

I can understand why San Antonio is trying to play this the way that they are. If they lose Kawhi for nothing they're pretty much boned. LMA is almost 33. They don't really have any other young stars. Although I thought Minnesota was boned, but they got Wiggins for Love. I blame that on LeBron being a horrible GM though.

If I was Pop thats where I trade him, no brainer! Good for all and once again no way he stays in the West unless he gets the deal HE wants, he can get from Philly otherwise.

You know, if San Antonio was actually interested in CJ, we could expand the deal to include Aldridge, lol.

Kawhi and Lamarcus for CJ, Collins, Moe, Aminu, Simons, pick.

Then the TPE for Danny Green

Dame
Green
Kawhi
Aldridge
Nurkic

I kinda wonder if including any other Spurs players is a problem based on his issues with their locker room. I just love that San Antonio was seen as one of the most stable organizations for decades and then as soon as LMA gets there, within a few years they are crumbling from the inside. LMA is a sleeper agent confirmed.

Could be, but I believe the story about Kawhi being pissed at the comments Parker and Pop made. They were being super passive aggressive. Was kind of surprising coming from a usual straight shooter like Pop. Parker is a French weasel so that wasn’t as surprising.
