Bird was drafted as a 'junior-eligible' player, which is no longer possible.
Also, the last time the Blazers had the #6 pick ... Martell Webster.![]()
Brandon Roy.

Yes, but they also got the #6 player the next year (trading their #7 pick), and that was Brandon Roy. So...
Brandon Roy.
The Blazers had the 7th pick, not the 6th.
But we will be able to use Shawne Williams 3.1 million once he opts in June 30. If we traded the 6th pick plus Shawne, Nolan Smith and Kurt Thomas for Kyle Lowery, we wouldn't lose any cap space.@AmirIcon......
We cannot use Hickson in any trades. He is a RFA and we "might" be granted Bird Rights to match contract offers after a hearing/decision scheduled for June 15. We also might not be able to match, and therefore would have to sign him with available cap space or up to the QO amount. Regardless, he can't be used by us in trade, as we don't have him (yet) under contract.
Just helpful FYI
I'm willing to trade the 6th or both picks for the right player; I don't think that is Milsap, not sure if he works with Aldridge and we have Hickson who wants to play here and wouldn't cost a draft pick.Did anyone else catch hollinger suggesting we trade pick 6 for paul millsap? Thoughts?
Seems to me like Harrison Barnes has been placed in the same tier nationally as Beal, Robinson, MKG, and Drummond--so whichever one of those 5 is still on the board when we pick is who we should take. Unless that player is Drummond, in which case we should trade the pick (to Houston?), because I don't like him.
With 11, I think we should take the best guard available, because I don't really like any of the forwards/centers projected to go in that range (Zeller, Leonard, Sullinger, T-Jones etc.)--unless Perry Jones has dropped, in which case you grab him and hope for the best.
pretty excited about the #6, dont really want barnes there though
I will honestly be shocked if we keep either pick, but especially the 6th
6th for Millsap is a fucking joke....
The thing is, who is available out there that would fit our needs? We know it won't be Rondo. Is there a star quality shooting guard available? How about a big man? I just don't see it. If it were me, and I was in charge of the team, I'd use the picks and deal Aldridge. I think we should start from scratch. Maybe sit on the cap space too.
I would too, but I'm not the one saying this roster can be retooled all off season.

Weren't you also shocked Brooklyn didn't move up? I usually agree with you but this gimmick is getting old... no offense.
This is not a gimmick. Portland management has said all off season that they feel they can re-tool the roster rather than rebuild it. They have said many times they would like to find players around the same age as Aldridge to compete now.

Yeah, I know and I have the same fear... just saying you should prepare to get shocked because your predictions have been off lately.
Technically I predicted NO would get the first pick in one of the threads on here, so look out
)Never saw that post. I have seen you repeatedly state that NJ would land in the top 3.
BTW-posted an article ( opps, I guess???) about NBA executives being skeptical and thinking the process is fixed (giving you credit as potentially being an NBA executive)
I will have to find that damn prediction
Did you se the article about NBA executives thinking the draft is rigged? Might be in the locked or deleted threads (BBF here we go again)
BTW- does it count if you predict more than one team is going to win the lottery?
