Blazers/Lakers 4/11 Game Thread

Now we MUST beat OKC. We beat them and take care of business against GS and we're the 6th seed.

It's all pending an MRI of course ... but a knee injury typically doesn't have many 'minor' categories. Hopefully it's just a sprain.

The MRI worries me - like you I hope it is just a sprain, and more specifically that they're just being super cautious because of Roy's previous surgery/tear on that knee in college.

Excellent win!

When Kobe was shooting FTs the crowd was chanting MVP and after he missed his first I was yelling come on MVP miss another one!

It's rare for me to participate in game threads during the action (I like to watch) but I often read them after it's over for laughs. Big games like this one often become a competition of which poster can shit themselves the most. I can't declare a winner for today's game as there were so many filling their pants with all their might... great effort all around guys, thanks for the laughs!

Fun game too. Great effort by Aldridge Camby Miller and Batum... I was amazed Martell came through with 6 straight free throws. Thats got to build some confidence for the club.

It sure seems like the bench has come back just at the right time.

I just noticed that the Lakers can't finish with a better road record than Portland. Portland is 24-17, the Lakers are 23-17. Imagine if the Blazers had been reasonably healthy.

Marcus-freaking-Camby!

I am one of the people who have been critical of KP for his seeming reluctance to make in-season moves.....but this was a bloody damn good one!

I hope we see Camby in a Blazer uniform next season.

Damn, no kidding.

Think about how effective a three-man rotation of Oden, LMA and Camby could be next year. That's 21 feet of hell for the opponent.

BTW, three cheers for LaMarcus. He's really stepped up his game.

Yep. I've been really pleased (mostly) with him the second half of the season. He looks to have a little bit of an edge lately and doesn't seem to be shying away from contact as much.

Absolutely and I see no reason why you can't mix and match those three together in any combination.

Yup. An Oden/Aldridge/Camby rotation differs from an Oden/Aldridge/Przybilla rotation for exactly that reason. There are very few times when you'd ideally want to go with an Oden/Przybilla combination. But Oden can fit very well with either Aldridge or Camby, and we've seen that Aldridge and Camby work well together.

Very true. I think Oden and Joel could be on the floor at times, but they would be limited compare to what Oden and Camby could do.

LA has played much better the second half. I've always been a defender of his, but it is nice to see him fighing inside like he is now. He seems a different player inside now.

Like I said before, LA saw Stevenson's Thread and was like:

"Aww hell naw!"

according to Joe Freeman, Martell made that stupid foul on Kobe because he was sitting/moping on the bench during the timeout away from the team not thinking he was going to go back in.

He didn't say anything about moping, you added that adjective. He didn't think he was going in and was on the bench. When I seen your post I thought Joe was trying to paint some picture like the Oregonian has done in the past, but I was surprise because usually he doesn't and he didn't you did.

Great game by Martell. Like the bit about his father. Plus no one knows it but Webster knew MVP was going to miss both FTs that's why he foul him! :ghoti:

Webster hit some HUGE FT's. Batum LOCKED DOWN on kobe. Refs tried their hardest to fuck us (AGAIN). LMA continued his strong play. Roy got hurt. OKC lost.

So much crazy shit happened today, WOW!

Almost lost in the shuffle was this line: 10 pts, 17 rips (7 off), 4 blocks (should be 5), and ONE HUGE MOTHERFUCKIN PUTBACK!! Thank you MARCUS CAMBY!!

And there was a stretch in the 3rd quarter where Dre Miller single handedly kept us in the game with his aggressiveness. Forced it a little at times, but we don't win this game w/o him!!

GO BLAZERS!

edit: and how fuckin sweet was that lob from Rudy to LMA? Then LMA screamin right in odumbs face afterwards, fuckin priceless!

Deep Thoughts by "THE"...........
-Like what I saw from Rudy out there today
-Could not believe Martell's lack of knowing the team foul situation. Reminded me of Webber's T.O. call back in the day in the Final Four!
-LA stepped up again. Well done.
-Nic's D was amazing.
-The first 30 something posts in this thread are hilarious.
-It amazes me how quickly some of you on here can kill our players then turn around and hop on their jocks. It's so over the top in both directions, it cracks me up.
-Watching Andre direct our traffic and Camby be the garbage man out there puts a smile on my face. These playoff type games really show how important it was to bring in some wily vets!

just a wee bit defensive about Martell mgb? I provided the link and just threw down my impression of what Joe had said to introduce it giving my words about a half second of thought. How else might you characterize someone who isn't physically with the team during a timeout and thereby not paying attention to what the coach is instructing the guys to do with under a minute to go? What viable excuse is there for not being both physically and mentally 100% there for a timeout with any game on the line (let alone this one)? Why shouldn't he be aware of the team foul situation? I don't care if it's Pendergraph who didn't sniff the floor... no excuse works. Did you happen to see how pissed Nate was over this fuck up? I'm as happy as anyone that things worked out and hopefully (as oldmangrouch said) he learned something from this. It's hardly worth calling me out on this minutia like you're on to something.

btw... Joe Freeman continues to be the best thing at the O

For those who have ESPN, the game just started! I'll bet the refs try and fuck us again, but I think we'll persevere and get a tough win! :devilwink:
