Blazers making offer to Kanter

Portland must think Kanter is going to take his game to the next level or they just want to bottle up OKC...this guy is really young for a 20-10 player

With the agents out there isn't anybody glad this thread didnt say offer to Carlos Boozer?

I love the 15% trade kicker. (That is about 2.5 million) Neil knew Presti would match for at the very least just to keep the asset for trading purposes down the road. This makes it a little tougher.

Yeah and even tougher when u consider the player option. It's pretty much a 3 year deal and I doubt u would look to trade him in year 1. Presti is fucked either way lol. Probably less so if he doesn't match. I doubt KDs decision will be swayed one wY or another on this.

I wonder if Kanter was playing for the big contract last year and he was more focused on his offensive stats.
Now maybe with the big contract he can focus on other things........probably not, but you never know.

Worst case scenario....... we hurt a rival by making them pay more then they wanted. Which affects them down the road for other player.
No that's best case. Worse case is they don't match. ;)

I actually wouldn't have a problem with any of those guys. Not sure I would want all 3 but any 2 out of 3 would be fine to pursue if OKC wants to throw us a future 2nd.
Well, we could use a backup PG. Augustin?

I do. I would think we like at least one. Maybe that is the plan, get them to match then say hey, we will take those other guys provided you throw us picks!
Instead of signing the sheet, couldn't we just call OKC up and threaten to do that, then trade them space for Augustin and PJIII?

If we brought back Luke Ridnour for a pack of gum, he could be the bench guard and he'd have a record for teams in a summer. The only Duck who ever made it from the Fred Jones, Luke Jackson, Ernie Kent era..

I don't see how anyone could want Monroe and then be pissed about going after this guy. Monroe was known for shitty defense too, and this guy is two years younger.

Good point. Either way they are young players who have to improve on D. But possess excellent offensive skills.
You just have to hope their coaches get through to them.

Okay, let's get some stats straight.

Enes Kanter was a 24.9 PER for OKC. That's right around Greg Oden during his good season.
He had a DRtg of 106, which is right around OKC's team DRtg of 105.5. Slightly below average.
His ORtg was 122. That's the same as Anthony Davis and Rudy Gobert last season. (btw, Ed Davis was 124 last year... see a trend?)

He averaged 21.6/12.8 for OKC.

I think he's worth the money.

And i actually like Kanter's offensive game better

I don't think this is such a big deal. This salary won't be shit in a year. This isn't a 20+ million per year max offer. We NEED scorers. Who on this team, outside of Dame, is going to provide scoring? Leonard? CJ? Crabbe? If this guy can be a consistent scorer, I'm 100% okay with bringing him in.

Ed Davis has to start if Kanter comes here though

That gives us Aminu and Davis protecting the rim, and 3 good starters on defense (Henderson/Aminu/Davis)

League average ORtg was 105.6; Kanter's Drtg last year was 106. He's been bad in the past (112 DRtg a couple years ago), but last year he was average, maybe slightly below average. But not end-of-the-world bad.

So to add just a bit of levity here...

Presti and Olshey (two pretty bright GM's, Presti with the more accolades obviously) think Kanter is worth a max offer. Unfortunately the board pundits think this would be a terrible deal for the rebuilding Blazers.

So what exactly do the posters see that those two (highly paid) GM's don't? Or, at the very least isn't it possible that any perceived deficiencies are fixable?

Some of you talk in absolute certainties, as if Kanter would be a bad get for this team. Honestly, looking at his numbers last season and age, he could be a steal.

And, there are two respected front offices that seem to feel the same way.
