Quadruple Towers!

Legend plays SG again! Kanter at SF! Plumlee and Davis at PF/C! Dame running the show! What a magnificent disaster that would be!

If we actually get this guy, what do you think the Kaman trade that surely must be lined up is?

I just can't see OKC paying that much luxury tax for a guy that only gives them offense when they already have Durant and Westbrook taking the majority of the shots.
You're talking about potentially 2 top 5 scorers in the NBA next year. Remember Kanter didn't play a single game with both KD and RW on the floor, so they have never had to share the ball 3 ways. Kanter's only real value is offense and it certainly takes a hit sharing the ball with Durant and Westbrook. Combine that with poor defense and it's just wtf for OKC.

Kanter gets plenty of touches in Portland and can reach his full potential.

While this is logical, I still think presti matches for some reason.

How much luxury tax wouldve okc had to pay had they acquired brook lopez at the deadline does anyone know?

This may have been mentioned, but I think this is a shrewd move by Neil. If OKC matches, they wont have the money to sign Durant, and we make a run at him. If they don't, then at the very least we hurt a division rival, and bring in a good prospect (in 26 games with OKC, he averaged 18 points and 11 boards) with money we had laying around.

This is a fucking horrible signing if OKC doesn't match at least Ed Davis and Plumlee play some defense, Kanter is a joke on that side of the ball might as well just throw out a rotating member of s2 we could guard as well as Kanter. We already have 5 big front court players we sure as hell don't need a 6th.

I hope OKC says fuck you declines then we have to watch this cluster funk of a team blow up, Neil gets fired loses his house and gets violently sodomized by a hobo on Burnside.

When people actually root for failure of our team so they can make their STUPID POINT.... I question their fandom... There's simply no way you can make that kind of statement and be a real fan....

So you want the team to struggle so you can say I told you so? You're a deranged fan.

I think OKC will match it because they said they'll match it, but i also think it will be stupid as hell on their part. They got rid of Harden so they can have more money to pay Kanter? wtf?!! that's hilarious.

If i'm Durant i'm getting the fuck outta there, their management lost their touch. Why do you need this Turk when you already have Adams,Ibaka,McGary,Collison AND DURANT (who should play the 4 against some teams)??

ESPN has a good article about why you can't really say "they let Harden go to pay Kanter" that revolves around the 3-years-in-4-taxpayer-makes-you-a-repeater rule, and how they had no idea of the massive cap increases coming around the time KD and RW would be FAs again.

The Thunder paid a small snippet of the tax last season, putting one year on the tally. Two more in the next three years, and they're heading for the dreaded repeater. Re-signing Kanter virtually guarantees Year 2 of it. And if everything goes according to plan and Durant re-signs, it will require some salary cap gymnastics to get under it before Westbrook is due for his new contract in 2017. But it's going to be possible to do, because again, the salary cap is going to go bonkers.
So this is the important takeaway: Had the Thunder gone all-in in 2012, instead of adding pieces now, they would be looking to begin a tear down, which isn't what you want to be doing when you've got to re-sign Durant. That's why Kanter's max today isn't comparable to the one the Thunder wouldn't give Harden in 2012. It wasn't just four offseasons ago, it was four salary caps ago, too. That was then, this is now.

They could have amnestied Perkins and keep Harden but that would require Bennett to pay Perkins' original salary without getting anything in return (cheap?).

They won't match. Olshey called their bluff, knowing Clay is a cheap mother fucker. They let Reggie Jackson go for peanuts because he didn't want to pay him either.

Very well said

Browsing Thunder forums and most of them aren't happy. Some suggest that the Blazers aren't at all interested - they did this to cause financial strain when KD becomes a FA next summer.

"Pissant move. Let them have him."

Drinking their tears like:

I love Stotts, but I would love to see what Thibs could do with this bunch. I think we would easily make the playoffs

I'm not suggesting a coaching change. I'm suggesting that even a terrible defensive player can be part of a good defense.

I am aware of that. I was just making a comment a bit off topic here, knowing you've paid close attention to the Bulls

Are you now a Blazers fan?!?!?!

OMG welcome to the #RipCityFanClub!!!!

The Blazers have one of the best owners, if not the best. Olshey is brilliant. The team tries to win. I can't say the same about the Bulls. I was a sucker for too long.

Even if the Blazers don't win, the players and owner and GM are trying as hard as they can, and that matters.

The Bulls completely lost me with their dysfunctional management.

OKC would have a TON of Lux Tax so pay as of right now due to the $2.50 per dolllar over rule, BUT, by the time they trade the 3 players needed to meet roster requirements the Tax will be figure at either a $1 or $1.50 per dollar over the cap making it much more palatable. Since the cap will be going up, they would only pay the tax for one year. I doubt they let him go because of $5-7 Million in Luxury Tax dollars for just one season.

Granted, they have to give away 3 players for nothing....likely PJIII, Novak and Augustin but that removes $8.8 Million from their cap and lowers the level they are taxed at.

Now if for some reason no teams would take their players.....that would be interesting.

Seems to me he is just a passionate fan that wants the team to win, and doesnt think Kantor or Olshey direction will help. An argument could be made because of his passion, he is more of a fan than you.

Im not making that argument, but we should all stop bashing people for their reactions. We all want the team to win.

I'm not too upset with those that want us to tank. It's a win/win situation if we barely make the playoffs or lose enough to keep our pick. Whatever the scenario, the direction of Olshey is sound. Kanter isn't some old dude we just blew our load on. It would be no different than getting Zach (without the hoops Fam) a decent contract and trying to work him into the Zach we've seen 5 years ago.
