Blazers making offer to Kanter

The reason to do it is if OKC says "we won't match if you deal us Kaman" OKC still holds all the cards. We still have a ton of space to absorb a contract

Funny I was running that same scenario though my head yesterday. Thinking OKC might try one last bluff if they don't want to match. I was thinking Kaman as well.

How could we get Barnes though? He's not making much this year, so it's not like they are needing to shed his salary. And I don't think we're allowed to trade another 1st rounder.

One good thing about Barnes, is that he'd come with a pre-nickname. Though I don't know if he'd understand what it means.

I think we would have to include young player(s) that show promise. Von would be what they would demand, but Plumlee maybe a decent second option.

We can't trade kaman for kanter, a s&t can't be worked out once an offer sheet had been signed. We can trade kaman for like, Novak, as "incentive"to not match, but you're not allowed to send incentive to a team to not match, so any deal between us would come under heavy scrutiny.

Can't the offer sheet be rescinded if the player and team agree?

According to the 1999 CBA, "A signed offer sheet can be rescinded within the waiting period if all three parties (the player and the two teams) agree."

Yeah, that's true. Darn CBA.

I was wondering about that. Thanks for confirming it.

(Edit: OK so the offer can be rescinded, then a trade worked out. You guys and your CBA knowledge keep my head spinning.)

I do think Kaman will be traded though, and we need wing players. That's what we should be focusing on (if he isn't traded for Kanter).

Olshey has more moves pending in his bag of tricks, for sure.

We're not under the 1999 CBA anymore.

FWIW

This seems like something that wouldn't have been changed, though.

It's pretty apparent that if we sign Kanter, we'll move Kaman and probably another big for a wing

There may be only one (1) Offer Sheet signed by a Restricted Free Agent outstanding at any one time, provided that the Offer Sheet has alsobeen signed by a Team. An Offer Sheet, both before and after it is given to the ROFR Team, may be revoked or withdrawn only upon the written consent of the ROFR Team, the New Team, and the Restricted Free Agent. In such event, a Restricted Free Agent shall again be free tonegotiate and sign an Offer Sheet with any Team, and any Team shall againbe free to negotiate and sign an Offer Sheet with such Restricted Free Agent, subject only to the ROFR Team’s renewed Right of First Refusal.

I'm still down for Mo Harkless. Plays D, has shown he can shoot. Still young. Probably just needs consistent playing time.
Ugh...his numbers look crappy. I'd rather have KJ, at least you know you're getting something on the defensive end.

Excellent. Thank you.

Now can you pass this info and idea on to Olshey and Presti?

Hi, my name is Denny, and I'm really smart and I've memorized all 10,000 pages of the collective bargaining agreement.

Thank you, Denny.

Harkless improved his 3pt % in his second season to 38%, then got no playing time this past season. Orlando is loaded with wings, I just think he needs playing time. I also would prefer KJ but Mo wouldn't be bad either. He's a little bigger. They're the same age and Harkless has more length

I think Olshey knows his shit. Big time. He doesn't need to hear from me or anyone here to figure this out.

If you've ever watched Boston Legal you'd know Denny Crane just says, I'm Denny Crane and some intern will fetch any info I need...probably a blonde in a tight skirt

Pretty sure it was negotiated during the moratorium period. Indy told us and Hibbert they would match. The offer was never signed after July 9th, and Hibbert promptly signed his contract with Indy.

He doesn't even say "I'm". It's just straight up, "Denny Crane", playa.
