Blazers meet with Monroe

It means twitter is hard to understand out of context sometimes.

It's a continuation of this: "Legit question: Will Lakers style of pitch ring better with Greg Monroe, a younger player who could grow with Randle/Russell/Clarkson?"
Lillard -24 and an all star, CJ 24, Aminu 24, Meyers 22, Hendo 27, Plumlee 25, AND the possibility of LMA coming back? F LA

I was always lukewarm (and that's describing it positively) with bring Monroe in. I thought things worked out well with a rim-protecting big playing next to Aldridge.

However, if things play out with both Aldridge re-signing and Monroe coming in, I like the moves in the context with the other acquisitions.

This looks to me like a beast built to eat the Warriors.

You have brought in two very capable perimeter defenders in Aminu and Henderson that can make their big guns have to work hard for their points. Then, you not only have two big guys who can pound them for 50 points combined, you have a lot of depth at PF and C that you can use to continue to try to punish them inside when the second units are on the floor.

Of course, they could very well trade some of these assets, but I like more what I see as a whole than I did as the individual parts.

You guys thought I was full mags on this idea, but this seemed like something Olshey could orchestrate. I'm waiting for Woj to say "Portland agreed to sign Monroe", then drop the major bomb "Portland re-signs Aldridge"

Not me!! Ive been with you the whole way!!!!
WHEN Olshey pulls this off, he will be the Blazers MVP of next year prior to it even starting!

Note from Dave: Talked about this briefly a couple days ago. The salaries match up for a straight sign-and-trade for Aldridge and Bledsoe. The cap savings to Portland would allow for another max signing alongside Bledsoe. (I'm guessing Greg Monroe.) Obviously Bledsoe is another Olshey pick, which fits the pattern. The main obstacle is getting Aldridge to agree. But this would be one of the ways Olshey and the Blazers could emerge from free agency claiming they put the team ahead even though they lost Aldridge.

Wednesday, 1:00 pm: ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that should LaMarcus Aldridge choose to sign with the Phoenix Suns, Portland may be interested in a sign-and-trade for guard Eric Bledsoe.

Wednesday, 2:36 pm: Ken Berger of CBS Sports has reported that LaMarcus Aldridge's meeting with the Phoenix Suns has ended, and Suns management believes that Phoenix in the mix.

So why would LA be going to Phoenix, then? To play with the Morris twins?

Not with Erick's health issues.

At least throw in Len.

But this is moot. PHX doesn't have a real shot.

Wednesday, 3:00 pm: Aldridge finds out that the Suns have just signed Tyson Chandler, whom he hates. Buh-bye.

• The Suns brought a host of people to their meeting with LaMarcus Aldridge. The list includes Robert Sarver, Lon Babby, Ryan McDonough, Jeff Hornacek, Earl Watson, Tyson Chandler, Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight, according to Paul Coro of AZ Central. The meeting lasted two hours and Aldridge was “very engaged,” reports Ken Berger of CBSSports.com. Berger says Phoenix feels it is in the mix for the free agent.

Down to SA, Phoenix and .maybe us.

• LaMarcus Aldridge's camp has denied the report that the free agent has eliminated the Lakers from the running for his services, telling TNT's David Aldridge the report is “completely false.” Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times reported earlier Wednesday that Aldridge will not sign with the Lakers after disliking the “basketball part” of their presentation to him.

why would they bring bledsoe if thats who we want? lol

Bledsoe: Hey Lamarcus, come play for the suns, I won't be here, but ya know, come on!

They all should understand, any Blazer player will not play well on the Suns court...duh

Theres no way the Suns trade us Bledsoe, especially with him IN THE RECRUITING MEETING. They would dump one of the Morris twins and Danny Grangers contract on the 76ers for a draft pick or something.

No, he doesn't. That changed in the last CBA (and has been mentioned in this forum countless times).

That probably wouldn't be the worst result, but it seems unlikely given the reported Splitter trade.
You eat poop.

It's been so unusually quiet on the Monroe front makes me wonder if we have an agreement with him if Aldridge returns. But without Aldridge he goes to another team.

Or maybe San Antonio is Monroes first choice but us or another team is his second. Just seems like he's waiting.

Even if aldridge leaves I feel like Portland is a good situation for him, but you're probably right he's most likely waiting on aldridge.
