Blazers Mid-Season Grades and Awards

DMC is who I would like to target, with CJ/Vonleh as the primary pieces that I would offer.
How would you feel about also taking on Gay? I've never been a fan of his - and honestly, I haven't watched him play since he was with the Grizz! - but after watching Aminu for half a season I'm much more open to the idea of playing Gay at SF. I'm not sure what SAC's intentions are, so maybe they aren't looking to unload him. Just an idea.

Dame
Crabbe
Gay
DMC
Plumlee

Frazier (blech)
Henderson (meh)
Aminu
Davis
Meyers

We'd really need to bring in a back-up PG if we trade CJ.

Super risky though. DMC is a crazy person.
I don't think he's crazy - just emotional/passionate and a little immature. He's basically Sheed, IMO.
He also seems to have deep respect for Dame, and I believe he would love to fall in line behind a leader, rather than being the leader himself - again, just like Sheed.

Why do you say he has a deep respect for Dame?

Who is conspicuous on this list?

Tier 4: A tad too inconsistent for greatness

Could it be the A/TO ratio?

Probably splitting hairs, but I wouldn't grade Dame quite so highly, as I think he has made a lot of questionable (at best) decisions with the ball, both in terms of shot selection and distribution (or lack thereof). Perhaps I've been reading too many @Tunchi and @MarAzul posts, but I think his FG% and AST% would be higher if he were a more willing distributor; and in response to any that say that his teammates need to be more willing to shoot, I would argue that that is a primary responsibility of any team's starting point guard--to foster that willingness and confidence in his teammates. He's been great, for the most part, but I'd probably only give him a B+ for the first half.

It does match my avatar, and I know exactly what I'm saying with my avatar. But I'm asking you what you're trying to communicate by posting the Kool-aid icon.

Solidarity.

I think Dames assists have vastly improved in the last week or two compared to earlier in the season.

This is another thing. The new players need time to adjust, learn the system and imrpove/progress their game and so to does Dame need time to figure his new team out.

One of the biggest complaints about Dame at the start of the season was holding the ball too much and taking all the shots. Not passing enough.
Ive seen some wicked passing from Dame as of late. He probably felt he needed to be the sc orer art first as his team learns to run together. Now that they are more familiar Dame now knows where the guys will be and IS making those passes. I think he had 3-4 of his best assists of the year in the Utah game alone. Possibly some of the fanciest passing of his career.

Again, as we must give these young new guys time to progress, we must give Dame time to get to know his players.

Yes he has made some sloppy TO's, but largely I think because he is focused more on trying to figure out his team than make precision passes. Now that he is figuring them out more, the passing has been on target alot more.

Its like the NFL.

If the quarterback thinks its a long bomb and throws the ball long, but the receiver thinks its a dogleg and cuts a 90°, who's fault is it if the play was supposed to be a long bomb?
Not saying we have set plays going like that, but if your not on the same page, then turnovers and poor passing happens.

Why do you say he has a deep respect for Dame?
During pre/post-game he makes a point to come over to Dame, hug, and talk with him. Obviously tons of players do that - but from watching the way he interacts with Dame I get the impression that he really respects him. I don't have any direct evidence or quotes - just what I see in their interactions.
