Blazers need more 3 point scoring

We should see 15 swish3s per game in the next 10 contests, and have the attempts taken by the best shooters. I imagine that Meyers will be an important contributor. But I do not imagine more 16 point 3rd quarters with tired players missing while the coaches fail to substitute. There should be no more 5 swish3 deficits (like the Suns).

Well that's exactly where Meyers will contribute. In your imagination.

You realize that once Meyers hits a 3, teams will simply take that away from him, what then?

No, other teams will not take away swish3 scoring by Meyers! You need to remember the 17 point scoring game this year, several efficient scoring games in past years, the hard fact season statistics (including FT3%, FG%, PER, WS/48, and TS%.

Instead of missed swish3s by Zach or ET or others, Meyers can be making 50% of them and bringing us to 15 swish3 scoring per game. In my opinion, I would give him the chance.

He is guaranteed to shoot 50%. He has scored 9 times on 18 attempts this season, this sample size cannot lie.

It doesn't matter if you contest him, close his eyes or cut his legs. He is GUARANTEED to score 50%.

Meyers swish3 scoring is based on the season statistical record. What he has done can contribute to increased Blazer wins--maybe even including the next 5 games. I see him as a valuable scoring force if played at the right times to keep the points coming. He has done it before.

Based on an extremely small sample size in garbage time when the defense allowed him to shoot.

So he makes one, they guard it, then what? How the hell is he supposed to get 6 threes a game?

Brain transplant. Layman's into Meyers. Problem solved.

What do you mean small sample size? 18 shots!!!

Actually, they need more scoring around the rim. No Blazer player in top half of the league in % around the rim. Worst at it is a guy taking the most shots, Nurkic. "He has been downright awful around the rim, shooting only 56.2 percent and ranking No. 71 out of 75 centers in the league. He’s also taken more shots from that range than any other Blazer by far."
"Last season he seemed to savor physical contact, often taking time in the post to body up against the defender and use his significant bulk to get up a good shot. Even when he didn’t score, his physical style looked effective. (with video). By comparison, this season Nurkic receives passes in the post and often quickly flips up an off-balance and imprecise shot — patience and willingness to use his size to punish smaller defenders has disappeared. He seems to almost flail at times, putting up terrible shots while nearly falling over."https://www.blazersedge.com/2018/2/...heir-around-the-rim-scoring-woes-jusuf-nurkic

"Perplexingly, and without any discernible reason, his low-post fundamentals also seem to have regressed."
Is it perplexing considering that there is no big man coach; and the head coach seems reluctant to hold players accountable?

It is a disappointment that Jusuf is not making close range shots or taking advantage of his size to dominate under the basket. It is when he is letting down that the coaches should put Meyers in to bring energy and shooting skill. Meyers can score 5 or more swish3s per game and give Jusuf a rest.

Using a combination of spread court key spot shooting, posting, pick and rolls, and kick out passes, Meyers can add a boost of 9-18 points per game that can mean the winning margin.

Can't we just see an inspirational picture of you, Meyers?

Scalma, the future that I imagine is Meyers playing at key points to add swish3 scoring that, along with Dame, CJ, Chief, Shabazz, and Mo, results in making the WCF. Getting the number of swish3s scored back to 12 or more per game looks like the key to success this year.

Teams can take away his 3pt shot then he's useless and a detriment.

Sarni, my use of swish3 as the term is because most of the shots from beyond the arc that are good do not hit the rim, and thus I intend the term to be generic for beyond the arc 3 point baskets.

This Meyers guy sounds unstoppable, we should pick him up.......oh that Meyers. Never mind.

We need more shooters period. If we draft two wings that can launch it from the perimeter the draft will not have been in vain.

The Blazers scored 15 swish3s, and won! Let's keep scoring the 3s to keep the winning streak going.

Additional 10 swish3s from Meyers would have added another 15 points and got the total points tally to 131 which would have been even more impressive.

We need Meyers to step in when other players are not making their shots to have his guaranteed 50% shooting based on 18 attempts so far this season drastically improve our swish3 efficiency.

Meyers Leonard could be key to this team making WCF and winning the championship or even multiple championships in a row if he's allowed to take 30 shots a game and score 45 points every game.

crazy to think that if we allowed Meyers 68 shots in a game he would break Wilt's record

What is realistic is for Meyers to contribute 9-18 points per game with swish3s.

Meyers is a warming weapon with superior statistics for TW%, KBW%, FM/48. With him adding 9-18 waves/game, in place of the below average performance of Zach, the Blazers can get to the Western Conference Finals (for cheer-leading squad). Playing Meyers at times when Zach and Jusuf are not on squad and not dancing will make the probability of the finals more likely.

(* TW = Towel Waving, KBW = Keep Bench Warm, FM = Flexing muscle)
