Ok we're 27th out of 30, but 94.5 is only about 3 points off of the league median and we're something like a full 4 possessions per 100 faster than we were last year.

Maybe Nate is loosening the reins on some of these horses after all?

PS. Surprising to see who leads the league, however ... didn't see that one coming.

Games against the Suns, Knicks and even Clippers don't hurt those numbers. I will wait to get excited until we play some teams that know what defense is.

A little surprising that the second slowest team is Miami. With Wade and LeBron and mediocre big men beyond Bosh, a lot of people were thinking they'd be a running team.

I think it's a testimony to the perimeter defense that team plays, and it's something that's only going to improve.

Some nice numbers but very small sample size.
The back-to-back against the Bulls, then Bucks, would be a huge test. I have faith in this team but going 2-0 on them would be extremely hard for anyone.

I sorta think this way too. I think there are teams that we should expect to beat, like the first three. Then there are tough games where is they lose fine, but what I look for is how the Blazers play in those games.

Sure it's a small sample size, but where's the fun in bringing that up? This is the S2 Blazers board after all, right?

Does it really mean anything? This could be explained just by rebounding improving. Which it has so far, I believe.

That doesn't impact pace ... in fact getting lots of offensive rebounds SLOWS the pace, because they don't reset the possession clock -- and the Blazers have the highest offensive rebound rate.

And does it mean anything? Nope, nothing at all.

Sure it does. An increase in defensive rebounds increases your number of posessions per game.

Well, that can't be it, because we're in the bottom half of the league in defensive rebounding %
