It's funny. Even when Roy played for the Fuskies I loved watching him play. Even when he would have around 30 points and be kicking the Ducks ass. Glad to see that he's going back and finishing his degree. Bet he's sad knowing that Romar and co. are going to the bottom of the Pac-12 ti'll we colonize Mars.

I think there's a very good chance he's going to be my favorite Blazer next season. I had forgotten how well he runs and and cuts to the basket - so many of those dunks were poster-worthy.

I do get a little nervous sometimes with the way he comes down after dunking on the fast break. I would rather he hang on the rim a little more to slow down his decent.

My two favorite highlights were:

His hook shot where he banked it in (a la Tin Duncan) and his drive left through the lane where he shot back to the right. He has a knack of making tough shots look easy.

CJ had a few nice passes to him. They seem to have good chemistry.

Meyers is so much more athletic, fluid and skilled than LaTex it isn't funny. LaTex can't even dream about having Meyers' handles. Meyers can make literally any shot. I think our future is bright with Meyers, Vonleh, and Plumlee.

I'd be curious to see the athletic numbers side by side, but you are dead right about the handles part. Meyers being a 6'5" guard in high school means he worked on ball handling skills there and is much superior to LA in that area. Being more skilled is a little ahead of yourself though

My best friend and I have a little debate over how well Meyers will do after being scouted and game planned for. To that argument I say:

Look at the things he does that game planning wont really effect. He runs the floor. He cuts and finishes strong. He has great hands. He shows post and off the dribble potential. He won't get nearly as many open threes. You'll see in the video 75% or more of the time no one Even attempted to close out. On the other hand, he never really takes bad shots and if there is a solid closeout he's a good enough passer to pass out and not turn the ball over.

He'll be the perfect compliment to Boogie.

It's cuts like this that'll make Meyers a better player than LMA ever was. Not only did LMA never make cuts like this, he could never be relied on to catch the ball on the move. (Actually, I think this will show 3 plays in a row where he makes great cuts/catches/dunks.)


People always talked about how "LMA runs like a deer", but it rarely seemed to translate to him getting open in transition. Meyers runs the court SO much better. And again, look at how well he catches these passes and then QUICKLY gets it above the rim for a dunk. These would have been turnovers if it was LMA:



Reverse jam!?! That takes body control - not something LMA has ever been good at:


For those that say he doesn't have a post game, this is why I think he can develop one:


He can put the ball on the floor!

He's creating easy passing lanes for the ball handler by being a smart player and understanding where he needs to be in relation to the ball and his defender. He's a much smarter player than LMA.
