Just found out we won the tie-breaker with SA and Den and will end up picking 24th in the Draft! Not the tie breaker I wanted to win, but I'll take it!

In the 2nd round, we got
32/33 From LAC
38 From NY
55 From DEN
56

Although we have a low pick, KP will work Day Day Magic again.
But first..PLAYOFFS!

From the No. 1 pick two years ago to the 24th pick this year? Amazing. A sign of exactly how far we have come!

I know its all about the playoffs, but I want KP to pick up a project center. Joel is in his prime and Greg..we just don't know enough yet.

PG
PF (backup of course)
SF/C
SG

would probably be the order i'd go for on team needs. But all can change if there is a very talented player still available and you may go for BPA. Who knows.

Is it too late to start the "tank for Blake Griffin" campaign, then?

I hope we sell it to Phoenix for $3 mil.

there is tyler H right there too. Austin daye.....Patrick Patterson.....Craig Brackins...Craig Monroe georgetown. but you know we have this guy.....http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Joel-Freeland-1055/ Joel Freeland....

i say if we can sell out picks for future picks that would be great but i think bayless will want out so if we find a guy under the radar and get him in a trade...but i dont like this draft all that much...the worst ive seen in a long time..i am normally pumped about the draft not this one.

Given the general consensus of this draft pool, I'm hoping for the 2009 version of Federico Kammerich

STOMP

Nice that we won, but we I think it should automatically be the inverse of how the playoff tie breakers played out (for playoff teams). Wouldn't be fair for a team to lose a tie breaker because they had a 0.15% less against division opponents, then have to pick after the team they lost to.

Why am I having a difficult time getting pyched about this announcement?

I'm not saying there aren't going to be any keepers in the draft, but at 24th I can only assume we're talking about a long term project or a no talent 'hustle' guy.

Time to start consolidating.

Rudy Fernandez was drafted at pick #24 and Nic Batum was drafted at pick #25.

Pritchard is pretty good at finding playable talent late in the first round.

Wow, excellent point. I had forgotten about that.

Keep an eye on Victor Claver. The 6'10" PF from Spain. KP was very high on him last summer. I can see KP moving up to grab him.

Perhaps. I just get the feeling this draft is a little poorer than 07 and 08

i agree with bpa. although i dont really want another shooting guard. back up PF or project center hopefully will be the bpa. lawson will not be available

Backup PF at 24.

Trade rest of picks for future picks.

Bake it!

Unless KP has his eyes on someone who will likely be in the late lottery (hello DeJuan Blair), I think he'll take another international player. Rodrigue Beaubois (already had 3 workouts with the Blazers) and Kevin Seraphin (of Hoop Summit fame) should both be available at 24.

We did bring in French PG Rodrigue Beaubois for last years draft and the one before for private workouts. KP likes the kid. 6'2" but his wingspan is very Barbosa/Rondo-esque.

Btw, Here's Claver's Blazer workout:

For as good as we did this year, I'm glad we have the 24th pick. Not too shabby. Lots of very good players have been drafted low. In addition to guys like Rudy and Batum, other later picks I can immediately think of include Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Michael Redd, Carlos Boozer Leandro Barbosa, Kevin Martin, Josh Howard, Mo Williams, Ramon Sessions, Carl Landry, Marc Gasol, Leon Powe, Paul Millsap, David Lee, Ronny Turiaf, Monta Ellis, Delonte West, Anderson Varejao, Trevor Ariza...

The point being, there are lots of players who have made it (and had a lot of success) in the league despite being drafted after pick #24. In particular, there are a lot of big men who were at the time a project or undersized. But good players at every position. Some players continue to improve and are better pros than others.

I have no doubt that we could find a decent player, and if not we'll either move up or out of the draft. KP hasn't disappointed me one bit so far. He's even done me the favor of getting players I targeted like Rudy and Batum. Yeah!!!! Solid track record :ghoti:
