dame is just butthurt that sharpe hasnt followed him back

sharpe dont give a fuck about dame, you gotta love that mentality

Insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results. You're advocating for them to do the same thing they've been doing when Dame is at the tail end of his prime. For the umpteenth time, there is no quick fix available for this shitty roster. Those possibilities were looked into and passed on as unrealistic. Accept reality.

What a fucking thoughtful response.

Hello Travis.

Thanks for taking the time to come on here and interact with us. I would like to address a couple of things you said about watching videos.

I sat and watched a half hour video of him just last night, where the narrator went over his strengths AND weaknesses.
The video is posted on this site.
It broke down his movements in all aspects of dribbling, shooting, passing, off ball movement, on ball defense, off ball defense and there was much criticism in the video. And it was all in game footage. Granted older, but it is game footage and is what we currently have to go off of.
I know this may seem harsh, but I, and many others, are regularly disappointed in our local media focus.
For example:
Yesterday morning on my commute to work, im listening to am sports radio. Local. You would think in a single sport NBA city, who just made the #7 pick the night before, they would have that as the top story and be the major discussion of the day. Instead i had to listen to football talk and never heard anything about our draftee before i arrived at work.
It baffles me that this wouldn't be the first topic of the morning.
local media can be frustrating at times.
Unfortunately, your statements here help validate the opinion that local sports media has a bias against the Blazers or just doesn't care enough about our biggest sports team to be on top of things.
I end up coming here for all my sports news.
It sure would be nice to hear our local media be more engaged to the point they can break things down like this forum does. I would certainly listen more if there were more Blazer related discussions and analyzing their moves with informed opinions.
Anyhow. Just a joe blow fans perspective.
Thanks for reading.
What an insane thing to do.

I feel like a teenager in overthinking this bullshit tbh. Maybe dame is just waiting for shaedon to follow him first. That said... It takes serious effort to deliberately unfollow someone lol.

Shaedon is 19. Prolly shouldnt worry too much if his support system is good.
I heard Shaedon rarely checks his notifications. Dame is a "if I follow you, you better follow me back right away" type of guy. So he jokingly unfollowed him because he hadn't followed him back.

It's not serious, other than to send a message to start respecting your vets now, rook!

Ya but shaedon follows didi. This kid...

Listening to this kid I don't think he's a talker....probably not a gregarious person. I wouldn't take his twitter responses as a sign of anything...he's in a blur right now probably trying to find out where to get around in Portland...couple days ago he was in NYC so I'm sure his head is spinning. He said he didn't talk to Dame at either workout too...that's not different from twitter...the kid could also think he's the next MJ and everyone is competition

Of course I’m looking at it from his side of things, it’s the USA baybay.

You see the Sharpe situation from a fan of a losing franchise’s side of things. I see it purely from Sharpe’s perspective—having all the talent in the world to show I’m a top lottery pick, but being enough of an unknown to pick and choose where to do my best interviews/workouts at, while at the same time working with my agent to find the best possible situation for me. We heard reports Shaedon got a promise from us, and before that heard he was just bombing interviews and/or workouts. I’m not saying he did that, I’m saying that’s what a smart agent would tell him to do.

If Shaedon shows he’s the same kind of prospect as the #1 pick from two years ago and #2 prospect from last year, we essentially got a top 3 draft talent despite buming it up in the tanking department. When Sharpe puts it all together, I’ll see a good outcome, you’ll see the “incorrect outcome”, whatever that means. Sharpe with Dame and Billups, I’ll play the odds. You can be all upset about him not playing college basketball for half a season in 8 years and hopefully I’ll be laughing in championships.

For the record, the "incorrect outcome" is wasting a high pick on a flop. I hold to the quaint notion that more info means better decisions and a reduced chance of getting it wrong.

If Sharpe turns out to be a great player, and more importantly helps the team succeed, that's great.

Blazer fans short term reality sucks, it's not my fault for recognizing it.

Really happy they drafted Sharpe though. He's young and years away from his potential, but man does he have some tools. That jumper is buttery.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for commenting. I can’t really control what other shows do obviously. Chad and I in the afternoons do an enormous amount of detailed Blazers talk. I care more about the Blazers than any other topic on sports radio, period.

I wasn’t very educated at all on Sharpe prior to the draft, just reading reports of other peoples first hand accounts. Since he was drafted, that’s a different story. I’m catching up on every single thing I can about him. I met his parents this morning, I talked to his little brother.

Prior to the draft, there is SO much information on so many players. I watched and read reports, and video. But frankly, I spent more time on trades and things that come along with that because that’s what direction I thought the team was going. I have to prioritize my time. There’s a lot going on with my family at the moment (nothing bad) and I had to choose my time wisely.

I didn’t spend a ton of time on Sharpe because I didn’t think they’d go in that direction, plus highlights don’t do anything for me, and I’m not all that interested in video from 2 years ago. I was obviously wrong.

Great to have you posting Travis....I'm a radio listening fan and have to say I think you've done a really good job stepping in for Wheels and I am a huge fan of Wheels....tough act to follow! Thanks for some great play by play game to game...hopefully this season coming up will be rich with new storylines and back stories to tap into. Go Blazers!

i appreciate the kind words, thank you!

Was my post too harsh? Should I go back and soften it up?
I just felt it had to be said based on his comments vs what has been posted in this very thread. I do appreciate and respect that Travis would even come on the board to discuss and interact with the forum.

your post isn’t too harsh. I can handle legitimate criticisms. I ignore trolls, that’s not what this was.

Nice to see you come here with an honest. open response. Until the last several days before the draft I think most here thought we would trade the pick, I did. Then rather quickly it seemed to go to a better chance to keep the pick as trading options for someone like OG were too rich and other options apparently not that good. I do think the Sharpe pick is a gamble and high risk/high reward, but like many here I think this is a gamble POR should take and they did.

Could be the team trying to pull back on Dame and Sharpe being at the same workout before the draft.
really good point! I'm stoked about this kid..really stoked! He lets his game do the talking
