Jeez, that's so hard to believe. I remember when we were bottom dwellars a few years back. This team has come a long way. Thank Pritchard and Allen for this awesome collection of talent that is our beloved Blazers.

It's truly amazing to see how Pritchard's plan is starting to gel right now. This young, versatile team is really coming together without the presence of a top notch point guard or a veteran that so many seemed to have wanted early on.

The one thing that scares me a bit is that Martell is coming back soon and will undoubtedly shake things up. He's a great shooter with some athletic ability and nice defense. However, Batum has been fitting in with the starters all too well and it would be a damn shame to see his minutes go down.

Of all of our players, Channing Frye seems to be the weak link if Martell is to supplant anyone right now.

Last year I don't think we win this game...awesome win...Good to see Greg moving forward in his conditioning and play. LMA's slump over? Yes!

I was down on Fry for awhile but he had a couple of really nice games really. He didn't do anything poorly tonight and showed some serious leg getting down the court for a fast break layup. It would be unwise to part with a 6'11" guy who is physical on d and has a nice outside shot if he's here on the cheap.

Good game overall, poor game by the bench, especially Outlaw. Glad we got the win though. Nice to see LA breaking out of his slump.

That is three good games in a row for LMA. He didn't have a ton of points the previous two games but would have if the Blazers hadn't blown out the other team. LMA was really shooting good the last three games. He had a great game today. I don't think LMA gets as much credit as he should when he plays well but sure does when he isn't playing well.

Fantastic game, excellent, excellent way to start off this road trip. Keep it up Portland!

And that's why KP said he's just going to let this cake bake. Why make trades and lose players that might help you? Lets see what we got first and so far it look pretty good!

Damn can all these people stop blaming Nate for EVERYTHING and that one guy stop calling him an idiot? It is not his fault the bench didn't play well, and his sub. pattern was very good.. he milked Brandon and LA, and kept Batum in longer than usual. You can't just yank someone out when they have a bad play... this pattern he found starting game 5 has taken us to a 11-3 record...

Maybe its not always Nate's fault? Maybe everybody shouldn't make Nate the scapegoat? Just maybe?... Just because one person insults Nate doesn't mean everybody has to do it like its the cool thing to do.

Actually, I think Nate coached a great game, and his sub patterns were all about matchups, who was hot, etc...

Another home game, another loss. Oh well. It's not like I didn't expect Portland to win today. They have an actual coach that can do more than shine the GM's shoes in the morning and tell him how awesome all his draft picks are.

Anyway, I was sooo into this game. Wow. I can't believe we got this. We are such a good team, and only getting better from here. I cannot wait until our first 24 games are over! I agree w/ the person who said this was the best win of the year. Lets do it again in NY!

Some posts on other Pistons forums..

This Blazer team is for real. Lamarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy will be a handful for the Pistons. If Portland can learn how to win on the road they will be a tough out come playoff time.

I think we'll win this one by at least 12-16 if we continue to get the zoo crew...Max, Amir, AA, and Stuck at least 18-24 minutes. They seem to rebound well and are rediculously quick at transition from D to O. I like this second unit.

Bottom line is that Portland is a young, strong team on the way up, and we're a team at the end of our run, looking for a new identity in the middle of a season.

Batum? Who?
I knew we'd make Oden look like gold, and get him out of his slump.

Portland is just all kinds of fun to watch, what a talented young team and they are going to be a force down the road once they develop a nasty streak to their game.

Yeah the stat of the night is the starters had a +/- of +117, while the bench had -62. In the first half it seemed Nate kept the entire bench in the game a little too long, and lost the entire lead because of it. But in the second half to his credit he played the starters a lot more when the bench once again didn't perform. Our bench has been so good it's not hard to see why he kept them in so long in the first half, but Nate did play the starters for most of the fourth instead of going with guys like Rudy and Outlaw. It just wasn't their night.

Wow. Good info, man. Thanks. Pretty much sums up the game.

I wouldn't have yanked Joel, Rudy and Trav either, tbh. And Sergio really payed off in the 2nd half when Nate showed confidence in him through the 1st half.

I'm just so proud of our guys right now.

And by not playing the starters to much in the first half they had the legs to play well in the second.

Seems to me Nate just keeps a level head. No reason to panic in the first half and disrupt the regular rotations. Then, 2nd half, game on the line, he substitutes (or doesn't as the case may be) perfectly ... = Blazer's Victory

Got the Pistons broadcast and while I miss Mike & Mike, it was interesting to see their take on this team. They repeatedly praised Portland's ball movement, at one point saying "isn't it pretty"? This Blazer team continues to surprise out of towners. They know theoretically there are really good players on this team but have not yet awakened to the fact that the Blazers are a really good team. I see that over and over.

What impressed me a lot about the Blazers was the way they did not panic when the Pistons took a 4th quarter lead. They never let the game get away (I believe Detroit's largest lead was 4) and kept to their game plan. Detroit is IMO the 2nd best team they will face on this road trip and to start off with a big win is huge.

Got to go, time to take the cookies (apricot bars with chocolate chips and pistachios) out of the oven.

You are joking right. How do the Blazer starters have a + 117?

Aldridge +23
Batum +28
Oden +26
Blake +21
Roy +19

Just simple math. I didn't say they outscored the Pistons by 117.

After todays win I think there is a real good chance we can go 4-1 on this road trip... would be awesome if we could beat Boston though and go 5-0!

The best part of the game to me was Oden DOMINATING the paint late in the game. He altered quite a few shots, and you could see the Piston players adjusting their drives whenever Oden was near.

This was the best Oden has played this year.

This also was the best game for Oden conditioning wise. He didn't seem tired at all.

Plus he actually laughed on the court after Johnson hammered him. LMA said something to Oden, and Oden smiled and laughed in return. I'd love to know what LMA said to him.

Great game. I think we won because of LMA and Oden. Roy also played great game but Oden's rebounds and blocks were important. The one thing I really noticed with the Pistons is even when they did drive to the basket they wouldn't shoot when Oden was in the game. I don't know how many times I notice a player almost at the basket and wouldn't even attempt basket because Oden was there. So, I think Oden doesn't even have to do anything and helps us win when the team won't take the inside shot.

I didn't see your post before I made a similar comment about Oden, but I feel exactly the same way. Now if Oden can stay away from the cheap fouls, he should be a closer from now on.

The New York game kind of scares me a little bit. We should win the game, but it'll be their first game post-Marbury after he gets his buyout on Monday as he's become just a total goofball and distraction.
They'll no doubt want to play well, but they only play seven guys a game. Golden State played absolutely no defense against them the other night.

Hopefully our bench actually comes to play so we can just wear NY down.

Batum continues to impress. Brandon Roy is a big part of his development, IMO. He keeps Nic relaxed and gets him the ball in positions to score.

Greg is looking better. He still has a lot of rust to shake off though. He looked great down the stretch.

Sergio cannot finish at the rim to save his life. His jumper is still stiff and rigid. His inability to score will hold him back, IMO.

Sergio was 3 for 3 from the field today, and had eight points. Sure, his jumper is still not consistent but I think his problem is more his desire to dribble for way too long and dribbling around the court for the first 15 secs of the shot clock.
He had 3 TOs today. He just needs to let the offense flow, and give the ball up and set up the play instead of taking it upon himself most of the time.

I was a big fan of seeing Batum and Oden in at the end of the game.

That's the first I've seen Greg smile on the court this year. I think if you asked him, Greg might answer this is the first game he feels his play impacted the win. Might be the reason he allowed himself to smile.

I think this is the first game LA, Roy, Oden, Blake, and Batum finished the game together. Might be the first time the Big 3 have all played together well and did their individual unique thing, in the same game.

Tough game for Rudy. I think we took the Pistons best shot, which makes this so much more satisfying.

Tough game for Rudy and Outlaw, yet still the team wins.

So many weapons...

You could have picked a better time to say this. He was 3/4 today I believe.
