Can't believe they wasted so much time on a player that was never coming here when they could have put that time to trades/etc.

They'll still be the second best team in the west..... but Gasol is really only a marginal upgrade for them. I guess it lets them move LMA to the power forward spot.

The only shot at beating the Warriors is to go big, slow it down and wear them down. They will destroy any smaller line-up.

Cause he didn't want to come here

I'm starting to wonder who does? Sure, Turner did, but he was a bench player in BOS....not really a big deal.

Now we have 2 guys on the Spurs we can boo incessantly.

You're just now starting to wonder? This free agency hasn't shown us anything we don't already know. Portland isn't a destination. Never has been, never will be. Only hope for it to be is being a championship team and even then that isn't guaranteed.

I think they could've been doing both exploring their trade & free agent options and waiting on Pau's final decision.

Bullet dodged as far as I'm concerned. Go big, get young, and wait out the next three years.

Hell, maybe trade some guys for 2019, 2020 first round picks -- think strategically, not tactically.

Agree. There are a lot of dynamics involved and you know they were working on their contingency plans. It would be interesting to know about those plans and how they evolved with each free agent signing.
