blazers reject LMA for Cle two first round picks

That trio has a better future than what Lebron has going on with the Heat.

Why do so many people keep talking like Cleveland has a shot at Lebron, anyway? Just curious.

I really don't know. Just going with what people are saying. Maybe because he has unfinished business? I bet if he three-peats next season, he will move to Cleveland.

I actually like this plan quite a bit. I think I'd go Oladipo instead of McLemore though - especially with Ledo at #19. And a 15/10 PF would be ideal (assuming it is fairly efficient, and defense is present).

Something I was thinking of was...
LMA & Wes, and 2 second rounders
for
#1, #19, Thompson, & Waiters(continued)

After getting Cleveland to agree to that we look to add a 3rd trading partner to offload Waiters because while I'm not high on him he does have value as a young prospect.

Offer Charlotte
Waiters, #19, and maybe Meyers if that what it takes
for
#4

So outgoing LMA, Wes, 2nd rounders (and maybe Meyers)
and
Incoming #1, #4, Thompson

From Cleveland's perspective they get their coveted player and swap Waiters for Wes, who would work better with Irving off the ball than Waiters, and they still maintain enough flexability to offer Lebron or whomever a max or near max contract next summer.

Charlotte trades back while filling their hole at SG and maybe acquiring another high upside prospect, and it's a scoring SG that would work nicely with MKG being less of an offensive threat on the wing.

Benefits for POR are opening up massive cap room this year and next, plus adding a bunch of young talent to the roster to try and kickstart a fast rebuild from a roster that could be stuck in mediocrity with LMA looking like he's on the way out if that's the case. Personally I target Len and Oladipo with the 1 and 4, and use the 10 on someone who can score and hopefully create a bit of their own offense like McCollom, with KCP and Shabazz as possibilities.

Could they give up their #10 to Charlotte if they do that? That way they won't have issues with losing the pick.

If Minny rejected the Love deal, I'm thinking the Blazers are looking at the same type of offer from Cleveland:

Cleveland sends Thompson, Waiters, the #1 and #19 pick to Portland for LMA and the Greek, along with maybe Freeland and some 2nd rounders.

Makes the Blazers very young.

Makes them a 25-win team next year, too.

Let's see lma for another year. He said he was working hard on the low block this summer. I suspect he will improve defensively as well. Who knows, maybe he will monster next season and we could get the too pick in next years draft; which is rumored to be one of the best drafts of the decade.

this fucking line needs to die in a fire

Because we have heard that since his rookie year

Hasn't he improved each and every year though? I think he's gotten to a point where he is unstoppable one on one. He used to never get doubled and in the last 3 years, it's almost money doubled on every low block possession.

LaMarcus was doing work in the low block -- before Stotts came to town. We were warned he envisioned LaMarcus in more of a Dirk role, and it was true. Don't blame the player. Blame the coach.

He's 28 -- at his peak, what you see is what you get.

We'll never see LMA willingly to play close to the hoop.

And I seem to remember a majority of Aldridge's perimeter shot selections were in the first half of the season. Only until Stotts changed it up and moved Aldridge to the block; was when we saw him really LaMonster it up.

What about Zach? He changed plenty?

Lets look around the league. Karl Malone stepped up defensively in his last 6 years in Utah (He was over 30 then). Then lets look at Kobe; who was notorious for hogging the ball. He stepped up his distribution stats after age 30.

So I disagree 100% with your statement. There have been countless players that changed their games late in their career.

Defense and rebounding would be far more beneficial to the team than him trying to "become an all-around scorer".

I agree. I think defense is key for a big man; but I think Aldridge plays pretty damn good one on one defense. His help D is suspect. In terms of rebounding; I think getting 9 rebounds a game is pretty good. Not great; but good.

Considering how far he plays from the basket, and how he's apparently allergic to contact, that's a pretty good number. ;)

Why? He's an elite scorer. Maybe get him someone other than JJ Hickson to play "center", and see what happens.

I have a suspicion if Cleveland does deal for Aldridge; they have their sights set on LBJ when he is available. The 3 headed monster of LBJ, Irving and Aldridge would be extremely formidable.

They have to make the landing spot as appealing as possible. But I kind of agree. I kind of think LBJ has unfinished business there and wants to make things right for the fans. They rehired Mike Brown. I thought that was odd. But it's not if LBJ liked him and buys into him and thinks he can win with him.

So ... LeBron would come over via free agency in 2104. Both LMA and Irving would be due contracts after that season. Is James going to take a discount again just to go back to Cleveland?

I think it's one of the more silly ideas in the NBA rumor mill. Why would he go back to Cleveland? People here bash LMA and say he's overrated, and Irving is hurt quite often, and has had foot issues.

LA as the third option would be perfect. Very similar to Sheeds role on the Pistons. LA isn't overrated. And he would do a lot for a team like Cleveland that has LBJ and Kyrie Irving. I do agree though, It will be difficult for Cleveland to sign him if Miami wins three in a row. I kind of think at that point, he will want to go for four, five and even six in a row.

Although, I think he is highly unpredictable and fairly unorthodoxed so who knows.

I don't get it? Why working on the low block needs to die in a fire?

This cliche' is right up there with "... and he put on about 15 pounds of pure muscle over the summer." None of that shit ever matters or pans out and it gets tossed around all the time. I'm not impugning LMA's character, I'm just saying that this is the cheapest kind of talk regardless of who is saying it.
