Blazers sign Mo Williams

How many players have the Jazz lost for nothing in the last 14 months? Last summer, they lost both Boozer and Korver, without getting anything in return. This summer, it's Jefferson, Millsap and Williams. Fuck, that's a halfway decent starting 5 right there - all gone, without getting a single player in return. I'd hate to be a Jazz fan these days...

P.S. The players they lost could easily beat the players they kept.

They lost Boozer over 36 months ago in 2010 for what is the NBA's most likely contract to be amnestied, I don't think any fans regret that. Al Jefferson was way overpaid, I don't think they regret that. We did steal Wes away from them back in the Boozer offseason though.

Losing Millsap for one of the best value deals in the NBA at $9.5 does hurt, and losing Mo Williams for $2.6 million hurts too. But when players take big pay cuts they normally don’t stay with the home team, that’s just the nature of free agency. Utah was smart to not overpay for borderline starters/great bench players. Utah has a number of interesting young prospects on cheap rookie contracts with picks coming up. They could be in real decent shape in a few years, much better than a team like the Lakers or the Suns or heck I might say Dallas. Next season will be rough for Utah though, although they’ve basically been a lottery team the last three years anyways so I don’t think the subtractions are disappointing the fans.

CJ is a 6"3 SG. If he can't show that he can play the point and do it well, he's not going to have much team value, Unless he can show something really special. I just don't see him being here long term. How many teams do you know of that are burnin up to get a 6"3 SG that can't play the point to well?

My favorite part of this deal:

Now when Mo Williams randomly drops 40 points, it wont be on us.

It will be for us.

Last season Mo's high game was 29pts.

He scored 28 in Portland on 3-29-13. (that what you were thinking off?)

He also scored 20 against us in Utah on 4-1-13.

In 46 games as a starter he scored 20 or more 10 times. And 10 or more 27 times.

Two seasons ago with the Clippers his high was 33.

In 52 games he scored 20 or more 7 times. And 10 or more 35 times.

Averaged 13.2 in 28 minutes coming off the bench for the Clippers.

FIREPOWER off the bench. Fuck yeah!

When the coaches can pencil in 10 from a guy they call off the bench, it makes all the difference in a season.

Our high scorer off the bench last season: Meyers at 5 pts.

By the way, last season coming off the bench for Philly, Dorell Wright averaged 9 pts in 22mins.

We just got 2 guys to get us 20+ combined off the bench. And our rook is a guy who can fill it up.

very nice, summer doldrums just got bumped for a few days, great signing. If we do not make the playoffs I will be very disappointed. Gotta laugh at all the "Pritchslapped" crap, Neil runs rings around that guy.

Olshey all the way!

or Neal is the Deal!

Maybe this deal?

Portland trades: Aldridge, Matthews
They receive: Monroe, Villanueva and Asik

Detroit trades VIlly, Monroe
They receive Lin, MAtthews and Parsons

Houston trades: Asik, Lin and Parson
They receive: Aldridge

Why are Aldridge trade scenarios everywhere?

I think this move makes it pretty clear that Aldridge is staying.

Also, how the hell does anyone reply to BGD? He wants to give up on a rookie before he has even played? lol.

He hasn't done anything yet :)

Yup, I think we can shelve any ideas of trading Aldridge at this point. Revisit them around the deadline.

I stop paying attention for a day, think to myself, "I better check the board - what if the Blazers made a move?"

Hot damn. You turn your back even for a moment....

And it was a really good one. I never heard anything about Mo being on our radar.

Thought: Mo Williams would be very useful to the Rockets. But the Rockets can't sign him. Are we stockpiling assets to grade for Asik at some point?

Second thought: Assuming Williams starts games on the bench, how quickly before he's brought in and Lillard slides to SG?

Oh man, I would want nothing more than Aldridge staying a Blazer. I think the team assembled is completely built around ALdridge and Lillard!

Isn't Mo more of an SG than Dame? Can't look up AST% atm. Someone help me out

We are all clearly missing the true meaning behind this.

Mo Williams + King James best friends in CLE.

King James potentially free agent this year.

LeBron has said Oregon is like his "other" home. Loves playing at the RG, loves Duck football, and Nike is located here.

LEBRON '15

Just stop.

Why would he?

He made 8 million dollars last season.

And, he was a starter.

Sure, he was in line for a paycut. But, damn!

And, Utah could easily re-sign him to whatever they could work out. $4 or $5 million for 1 year, right?

That is why he wasn't talked about. It didn't make sense since we didn't have a roster spot, and didn't (seemingly) have enough money to lure him away from Utah. Guess Utah is in 100% tank mode.

Lost: Hickson, Babbitt, Pavlovic, Nolan , Elliot, Jeffries

Gained: Lopez, Mo, Wright, McCollum, TRob, Watson

Freakin night and day in terms of depth and talent. Still think we could use a big behind Lopez in place of a guard.

See my previous post.

I think Neil promised Mo he would not be traded.
