Love the signing. Is he our answer for a tall point guard? I was impressed with his highlights,
but he nothing like Woods. Q was 220 and over powered players in summer league. This guy is 185 and actually looks like he can eventually be able to play the point.

Maybe a Shaun Livingston type????

That was my comp too. But more athletic/agile (than pre-injury Shaun).

I mentioned him in the Fas thread...had my eye on him...I watched video on him and was hoping wed get him...another versatle player who can play multiple positions and has a high ceiling...good get

But with less court vision and passing.

Don't you love trying to do player comparisons? LOL

if he can even becomes our back-up point guard then this is the biggest signing in nba history

So then Montero is baby batum

Well isn't batum technically for all intents and purposes a shooting guard

So instead of punching opponents in the groin he will finger gouge 3 Stooges style.

No we will get the whole 3 stooges montage

Young Shaun Livingston. They say he can play the pt and he's a tall pt guard

not much buzz from staff or casey about this fella though

If he does well enough in SL may as well bring him and Bogans on to the actual roster. I'm also interested in Orton and Moultrie, but with all of the big men and possibly Kanter, we're probably set there.

I wish we had gotten Robert Upshaw into camp; I hope we didn't just ignore him because of behavior problems. Cliff Robinson fell to the second round for those reasons and continued smoking all through his career but he had a long and very productive career.

Young guys like Montero are why you sign old guys like Bogans.

I wish the stigma around smoking pot for athletes would go away; all the biggest known smokers (Kareem, Cliff, Oakley) had long-ass careers. It extends careers!

Rumor was that he was a cokehead. Not just pot.

The Spurs sign proven players to smaller contracts. We sign community college players to non guaranteed contracts. Oh, btw. I hate the Spurs.

Upshaw.... Also I believe they found a heart defect during physicals.

Depending on the heart defect, it's not a huge deal (look at Tex, he had two heart surgeries as a Blazer), but yeah, cocaine is a helluva drug.

for Montero fans it looks like he will wear #44 in your program . found it in casey's forwd/center blog pictures from todays shootaround in vegas

I would not expect any before they signed him, since he was a free agent. No reason to create any unnecessary buzz.

Now that he has signed..........hopefully we will hear some good things. I am guessing it will be more on the "potential" side than the "he is kicking ass in practice".
