I hope Ronnie can keep on doing moves or plays like this. He's #17 in the video.

Once a game maybe? Otherwise I sure hope we don't see much of him, because if we do it just means Lillard can't hack it.

On the one hand:*yawn*

On the other hand: wow.

Why "wow"?

Price is not good. He's a backup on a bad team-/not in the NBA-level player. He's a piss-poor perimeter shooter.

Nice guy? Maybe. Veteran leader? I guess he could be.

But he's not going to be much help on the floor, and it's a "wow" situation for me because I see this as the team acknowledging that we aren't going to win much this season.

Is that a bad thing to admit/resign ourselves to? Maybe. Maybe not. But it's interesting because I think it cements we're going to see a lot of losing this year, which might not have been the case if we'd acquired a PG that could help us win this year with our remaining cap space.

Ed O.

There aren't very many free agent PGs who will come at a cheap price at this time.. I'm fine with this move to add depth there in emergency situations. Price is a fringe NBA player and 13th-15th man at best.

Did anyone post this yet?

Olshey said Price and Lillard are really close and work out in the off season.

Any question about PGOTF should be over

Price was decent with Jazz right? Wes must know him well.

"Decent" is a relative term. By most advanced metrics he was pretty much crap, with the eyball test the few times I saw him he was just 'OK'

Hopefully Lillard dominates Price in pick-up games. :)

Yeah, I was surprised to see how incredibly bad his PER was. From watching him, I thought he was a decent player at Utah. His PER says he was a terrible player.

Without knowing the details of the deal, my first reaction is that signing Ronnie Price is a good, but unexciting signing. He's a relatively solid player that doesn't come across as whiney or selfish so that Lillard can develop.

Right now, the "not whiney or selfish" is a huge selling point.

I just looked up his stats. Of all the awful PGs, how did Olshey pick this one?

<light bulb pops on over head>

Do he and Olshey have the same agent?

I'm guessing that Price is a Placeholder who won't play a regular season game. We'll pick up a cheap scrap leftover right after teams make their last cuts.

I think he's worth four wins to us this season.

you guys both make me laugh and make me feel like I'm "in the know."

Here's my guess:
1 year vet. min. guaranteed + 1 year team option

We got someone willing to take that deal, and Price is an offseason practice partner with Lillard, increasing his comfort level with his new surroundings.

I think it also means that Smith just got elected backup PG.

Career Averages
39%/30%/1.4 asst/ .8 to/ 3.6 pts :dunno:

So he's athletic but not too skilled offensivly. Is he a good defender? I guess he's adequate for a 3rd stringer.

We cut Jonny
To sign Ronnie.
It ain't funny
If Lillard's knees pop out bony.

HEY THAT WAS GOOD I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANY LIP.

If we were going to go this rout Patty Mills would have made a lot more sense than Price.

We cut Jonny,
To sign Ronnie.
If Lillard's knees go,
Our win total will be low.
But then we'd lose any way,
So why not sign Lillard's Hom-ay?

This was all about Lillard. Assuming a 1 year deal. Doesnt impact next year salary cap. Helps Lillard to adjust.

And lest we forget ...

I know nothing about Ronnie Price. Can't say I've ever seen him play.

This.

Huge disappointment and counter to the impression I had taken from PR releases implying we were going to do what it took to be a serious contender.
We're weaker at PG than we've ever been in the franchise's history.:sigh:

Ah there's the Maris I know and loathe.

Let's admit it. Olshey is a Clipper. He knows only one way to think. Suck, draft early, see the star leave when his contract ends, repeat. Keep swinging for the fences instead of patiently and incrementally adding good but not great players. It's the dream of every Clipper.

Even though we signed him we can't be worse than Sacramento or Minny?
