Why they heck isn’t Scoot playing in summer league?

Seems kind dumb he isn’t playing.

Miller is playing again this summer league.

Jabari Smith played in summer league last season after his first year?

Anyone know any reason why Scoot isn’t playing in summer league?

Mindset is a critical part of success....Combined with how little summer league contributes to improving skillset. It's meant for evaluation, and they know what they have with Scoot

Um, your take is just as bad as Scoot not playin in summer league. Actually it’s worse lol

PG is the hardest position for new players coming to the NBA to learn, especially someone as young as Scoot and lack of college experience.

If you honestly think that playing in 4 or 5 Summer League games is make or break then I don't know what to tell you. You should be happy that he's around the team and clearly scrimmaging with them, which is presumably 90% of whatever value there is in playing SL.

The main point of SL is for players without contracts to get them.

I never said it’s make or break. It doesn’t hurt at all for Scoot to play in summer league.

Why is Brandon Miller playing? You know, the guy drafted before Scoot. Or Jabari Smith last summer league after he had a bad first year?

It’s to gain more experience and get more reps up under your belt being a young player, especially for a point guard. Scoot wasnt playing in control many times last season and his turnovers were horrible. It doesn’t hurt to get extra reps up and try to improve more and more as he is still young, that’s also what summer league is for.

If summer league is for players without a contract to play for one, then why does any rookie who is drafted in the top 20 and guarantee a roster spot on a NBA team even play in summer league by your logic? Doesn’t make sense imo

I don’t know why you guys defend Scoot so much in here, it’s dumb he isn’t playing in summer league, period.

Last year I saw nothing from those two guys that impressed me at all, they have to show a lot more to make me think they have a chance to be more than end of bench scrubs
Having a G-League team in Portland makes active tanking a very simple process. Cronin can send the Uber Driver to pick up X,Y,Z Blazer kids, instead of spending airline fees to fly the 3rd string players across state lines right before tip-off.

There's just no point for Scoot or Shae to play in SL this year.

Scoot has proven he can play against bench scrubs. He has proven he can play in the G League. Why play in a glorified rat ball league? He's down there. He's practicing. It's fine.

On paper I like our chances.

Could honestly be that people are talking about Clingan after SL is said and done. 2 1/2 hours until we have a glimpse.

Joakim Noah comes to mind
Before Noah and Florida in 06-07 it was the 1991-1992 Duke Blue Devils with Grant Hill and Christian Laettner winning back to back. Looks like its only happened 8 times that an NCAAM team repeats as champion.

Before that it was John Woodens UCLA teams.

TGWH so far

Plodding a bit
Shot looked good, if not slow
Going to get a lot of fouls.
Looks great at rim defense
