Scoots been working hard
Everything that was said he took personal
He’s going to be elite
The beast in him is ready to come out

I hope that's true (even if it's spin), but he's going to need to show it right away. Not saying he needs to be 18-10-4, or something right out of the bat, or shooting 43-39-90, but he needs to show that he's progressing from last year.

His biggest fault is probably that he's coming after Damian who had the benefit of playing 4 years in college and also in our minds, 11 seasons of non-stop solid play.

I think he was too quick last year, and made many passes that won't work in the NBA (even with better talent). I kinda wish he played in a game or two during the summer leagues so we could see any progress made (video clips can be deceiving, otherwise Ben Simmons would be leading the league in 3 point shooting).

What really stands out to me is that he plays like he has already been in the league a couple years. He doesn't look like a baby deer still trying to figure out his body. He looks miles better than Meyers Leonard and Zach Collins.

Ironically, per minutes Scoot actually avg more ppg/rpg and apg than Dame’s rookie year.

Shooting efficiency is his problem he needs to figure out..

I don’t see that yet. I do see he knows how to play defense, which is great. His rolls off screens need better timing. He is lost in the low post on offense

I like that he is active. Doesn’t sulk when he doesn’t get the ball. Looks like a skilled rebounder and defender but we really need to see him against actually NBA worthy players. So let’s not put too much pressure on the kid, but I like what I see so far. Often summer league is kind of a bad experience for big guys. He seems to be fitting in quite well which is a good sign

Wow I don’t see the rebounding skill. He gets pushed out of position and his hands are not elite

One thing that seems to be lost on most of the online sports community is that "compare" does not mean "equate." The only comparison that really interests me is how does Clingan "compare" to Nurkic. In what ways might Clingan be better than Nurkic? In what areas might he be not as good? For example, it seems Clingan may never be as good as Nurkic offensively around the basket. But if he is more efficient, is that really worse, from a team standpoint?

Exactly. Summer League is guard oriented. If the Blazers had bothered to put a decent guard on the team, maybe we could get a glimpse of where Clingan is and isn't on offense.

One thing they do need to work on is his conditioning. Whether it be a physical limitation, or just not at that stage yet. He clearly as moments where he's winded out there.

Thankfully he won't, or better yet, shouldn't, be relied on for heavy minutes this season.

I have a feeling Cling Kong will beat rookie Jusuf Nurkic numbers, would bet strongly he works hard year after year to improve.

I don’t see a single component about Nurks game that Clingan can’t surpass in the next couple seasons. He easily lost 3-4+ baskets around the rim in this summer league games to nerves. He also is debuting the 3 Ptr as an experiment, not a long term offensive focus.

I think he looks even better with the actual Blazer rotation, because he can be the missing link instead of needing to carry the team more like the summer league.

One thing I thankfully dont think we'll have to worry about is that Clingan's effort & will to win seems to be far greater than Nurkic's.

Maybe I will have try watch him closer. He seemed to tip the ball well to teammates which didn’t exactly show up in the box score. Again he isn’t really in an NBA style game so it is hard to evaluate. I want to see how he does against similarly sized and skilled players. I thought his hands looked good but it will be easier to tell against true nba players. I think he could use some improvement on positioning
