Blazers @ Thunder game thread

What the hell is Nate playing Blakey for . . . I don't think Nate has seen what we all see, I don't even know if Nate has watched a game.

The Blazers won in spite of Blake playing. :D

I think its going to be a progression for greg this season, I say by game 15 a double double will be normal for him.

Good, scrappy win against a tough away opponent.

Oden gets a double-double.

Who was the guy wearing Blake's uniform? :drumroll:

We held them to 34% FG shooting. Was our defense good, or the Thunder just shooting like crap?

Can't believe the Thunder only got 6 assists.

I'm getting to enjoy defensive games. Making each possession count, especially heading into the 4th quarter.

It just seems like when games are defensive battles, the Blazers are good at locking down and out dueling their opponents in the 4th. When it is an up and down offensive game, it feels like the Blazers are playing the other team's pace and keeping them in their comfort zone.

I don't recall many fast breaks in the last half of the 4th and that is when it seem like the Blazers were in control.

LA 6 pts, 5 rbs, 3 asts, and a block in less than 12 mins.

Prop to Howard for doing what a vet should do . . . come in when needed and provide some steady play.

He didn't take the game over, but he did what he had to do to not let the PF position dominate the Blazers once LA went down.

I think Miller helped this game. Drew some big fouls and moved the ball on offense. I think him and Rudy will start to hook up on a regualr basis. Give it time.

He had 4 fouls and the worst +/- on the team. I am disappointed in his play and hope he turns it around soon.

Miller - 20 minutes, zero assists. :dunno:

Hey Denny, can we get a bit of javascript that automates this post for PapaG?

Miller - <MIN> minutes <AST> assists <shrug smiley>

That would probably save him a lot of time, plus I think nobody would realize that it was a mindless bot posting instead of a human.

:D

Well, it's my first post like that of the season. So, if you think you need a bot to update us all on this, I'll happily just take the 15 seconds and post it. Miller isn't even an upgrade on Sergio after 4 games, but I trust that he will be soon.

Steve Blake showed tonight why McMillan still starts him, hope Blakey keeps it up.

Okay, not just for you, but for the amalgam of people like you who post an unfavorable stat, follow it with a :dunno: and think it passes for discussion.

This is what frustrates me about this place sometimes, is that a lot of people after a game could be replaced by a series of small shell scripts that pump out stats surrounded by canned phrases and emoticons. Nobody's diving deep; I used to after games, but it's not worth it when nobody reads the posts, instead choosing to argue with KingSpeed or you or whoever is most annoying that night.

We used to have discussions. I remember it clearly. We would have long posts and discuss things in depth. This current level of discourse? It's frankly unintellectual. We're all better than this.

I think the NBA is in real trouble if they don't work out the officiation situation. We've all joked in the past that the NBA = Pro Wrestling, but part of me didn't really believe it. Now that I believe it, it's making every game UNBEARABLE! The more Donaghy's story trickles through NBA fandom, the more trouble the NBA is going to be in. I thought I'd be able to look past what I read from Donaghy's book, but no, I can't because I believe him, and it's exposing the entire league as FRAUD. I can't take it. I want to throw my lap top through the TV after every bad call. I'm so insanely mad right now. The sport I love the most, the league I love the most, the team I love the most. What's the point? It's all a lie, and the Blazers will never get a fair shake.
life isn't fair. I'm certain a some teams are more equal then others league will never favor a small market West coast team in my lifetime. I try to live in the moment and enjoy good hoops from my team when it happens.

STOMP

What about Miller's game tonight was positive? Especially in a game thread? If you want to start a more targeted discussion on Miller, start a thread on what is positive and what is negative regarding his impact on the team at this point. I'm all for in-depth discussions, as you and others know from the BBF board (and ESPN for the old-timers), but a game thread seems to be the place to leave a random commentary. If you would like to dig deep into Miller, start the thread and I'll give some numbers that support my opinion on him thus far into the season.

It isn't random commentary. It isn't useful. It isn't insightful. It is just typing out part of what already exists on the boxscore. Most of us know how to use the internet. We know where to find the boxscore. We know how to read the boxscore.

I guess you can take credit for putting a "smiley" after posting a stat.

So posting statistics is now a negative. Great, I'd much rather just hear opinions that aren't based on statistics.

"Nate sucks". That's insightful.

Also, do you do anything other than criticize posts on this board and berate people in the OT forum? I wouldn't call this list of insults "insightful", but that's just me.

Upset because he stole your activity?

As for Miller's game yesterday, one portion I noticed of usefulness was a succession where Westbrook was being physical with Blake, and Blake could do nothing to stop him. Miller was inserted at that point, and Westbrook instantly wasn't able to have his way in the post. Small thing, but was nice to slow him down for a moment, and not let him gain more confidence, and continue to score more.

Literally his last 10 posts have been directly attacking the opinion of another poster. Miller stinks right now. That's my opinion. As I've posted, I'm sure he will turn it around. Instead of talking about how wonderful Miller did against Westbrook, which is fine, I pointed out he had the worst +/1 on the team, which is a statistic. I found blazerboy's post to be pretty generic and not at all "insightful". I haven't seen him post anything "insightful" recently, but again, that's just my opinion.

Also, what is my "activity" other than being attacked for posting raw data regarding the game in the game thread? I find it immature for posters to take out their frustrations regarding Miller on posters factually posting about his play.

What do you expect when you post:
Miller - 20 minutes, zero assists.

It is right up there with Kingspeed's posts.

How do you want somebody to respond? Say, "Yes PapaG. You're absolutely correct! Miller had zero assists in 20 minutes tonight. Great observation!" ?
