Or keep David Robinson and add Duncan. Then trade Dame. If you want a young lotto pick to stay, start the rebuild.

David Robinson in 99 won the championship. And it's hilarious how people think Dame is washed after ONE major injury. This dude is still 31. He dropped 55 in a playoff game 30 games ago.
This ain't David Robinson in 99.
You love Tim Duncan? Guess how Spurs got Duncan? How many times does Dame have to tell you he wants to stick around for his entire career before you stop doubting his words? It's you that's projecting this stuff...not him ..Dame's trade value to Portland is that he doesn't ever want to be traded.....that's value. It's why I love Tim Duncan and what he means to the Spurs....and why I lost all respect for Kawhi, Lebron and AD......I like loyalty and reward it with trust and fandom
Same way we got DameYou love Tim Duncan? Guess how Spurs got Duncan?
yeah I get all that but I'm not a tank supporter but hey....I'm in no way saying I'm right about this...you guys could all be right but those are just my convictions about the team...I'm glad Dallas got Luka and hope he retires there too...that's my lobby for the league....stop this revolving door and let fans get attached to their Tim Duncans and Damian Lillards. But we could get a Doncic or Mobley type that helps immediately or in the second year. Or trade the pick. Dallas made a conscious decision to tank and look how that worked. They have a franchise player who may end up one of the greatest of all time.
That’s why someone brought up the Suns. Chris Paul doesn’t match Booker/Ayton’s “timelines,” but it’s working.I get it. If we get the number 1 pick or a top 3 pick and can get an Evan Mobley. Absolutely. But, timelines don't completely mesh with Dame. That doesn't mean it can't work, but you have to shuffle our other pieces anyways. We can not have a Dame - CJ backcourt anymore.
If a star is in his prime and available, you absolutely consider the pick in trade talks to see what it would take.
There were still 2 months left in the season when David Robinson’s foot healed but they shut him to tank for the pick that got them Duncan.Same way we got Dame
Nope Spurs got Duncan by tanking. Blazers got Dame by trading.Same way we got Dame
I didn’t mean to say that you were pointing at a specific cause. I think it’s the use of the word regression that bugs me since it implies that there’s something going on that is a likely trend going forward. I’d say every player who plays injured sees some fall-off in production. The question is whether there’s reason to think that “regression” is going to be the trend once the injury heals. Dame’s performance after the injection, at least while the cortisone was doing its job, would say the answer is no.
both were acquired by the draft...the trade wasn't for Dame....it was for the pick that became Dame.Nope Spurs got Duncan by tanking. Blazers got Dame by trading.
still...it doesn't matter how they got the pick, what they did is draft well....losing of course gets you a better pick....whether it's intentional or not I have no idea...There were still 2 months left in the season when David Robinson’s foot healed but they shut him to tank for the pick that got them Duncan.

He's just saying the Blazers didn't get the pick by tanking.
They were crappy that year anyway, with only 28 wins. They didn't have to tank, though with the 11th pick they probably wouldn't have gotten Lillard as he would have been gone by then....so it's good they traded for the pick.
They drafted Meyers Leonard with that 11th pick. We know how that turned out.
quick said it's not a question of "if," but "when" dame elects to have surgery and the team is going to "play this season out for the draft pick."

Yep, get Dame fixed, let the young guys play and gain experience and trade value if needed, and lets get the best pick we can. Trade Roco for sure and frankly anyone else (likely except Dame) if the right deal comes alongI'm not sure it's certain surgery is the best course of action. There are no guarantees with any surgery and plenty of risks
but if it is recommended, then I do not see any reason to delay. Get it done and tank the damn season. The most important asset the Blazers have right now is a chance at a high draft pick
Whoa! That's a six game road trip that lasts until January 23rd. I'm glad they're taking this seriously because rest, rehab and a cortisone shot didn't do the trick. Eager to see what the specialists have to say and where Dame goes from here.

Everything I've read says that you don't get surgery on tendinopathy without a tear. They might be talking to surgeons about less used or experimental surgical procedures that could get rid of the damaged tissue for good. They might be discussing different types of treatment to try and get that tissue to heal like PRP, TENS, Ultrasound therapy and the likelihood that those would help. Maybe just how much rest and therapy might be the most before knowing that it won't work. So I'm assuming that they are looking outside of the normal approaches to this chronic injury because the initial prescribed solutions haven't worked to this point.so, is he meeting with specialists?...or meeting with specialists again?
what is there about the injury that's not known at this point?

Yep. Management has given up on the seasonI think it’s tank mode.
where?I read he will have surgery and be out for the season.
