Blazers to meet with Chandler Parsons

If Olshey finds a way to get parsons and whiteside/Howard while keeping crabbe and Harkless I will fly to Portland and kiss him my damn self.

I'm pretty sure NO would avoid this happening at all costs, even if it reflected poorly on him, just to avoid your kiss.

I'm not usually the type to say stuff like this.. But why is it seemingly only (or just mostly) white players that people call handsome?

Dame, Hendo, and Hark are all handsome. CJ is cute in a goofy way... Aminu is an ugly mofo.

Here's hoping that this is an elaborate prank on Chandler Parsons.

Yeah but people don't say that very often, whereas it's the go to "joke" for a ton of white players. Meyers gets it all the time, I've seen several mentions of Layman being good looking and we only drafted him a week ago, and now Parsons. Maybe I just don't notice when people say it about black players but I'm pretty certain it's disproportionate.

The reason why he has "no chance" to go back to Dallas is because he's demanding the Max.

Chandler Parsons has a player option on what was nearly a max contract when he signed it in 2014. He’s coming off his worst season since his rookie year. And he missed the end of the season with troubling knee issues.

Would he really opt out?

Welcome to 2016 NBA free agency.

Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News:

Chandler Parsons already has said he will exercise his option to become a free agent this summer.

Parsons’ player option is worth $16,023,000. His max salary in free agency will be more than $20 million.

With the salary cap skyrocketing to about $92 million and so many players locked into low old-money contracts, this summer will be a spending bonanza. So many teams will have cap room, Parsons will almost certainly get a raise. In fact, he’ll probably get a max contract. His knee presents a risks, but at age 27, Parsons will probably convince a team shut out of better free agents to take a risk. His window for being healthy and productive is still open, and he started playing well before getting hurt.

The Mavericks could keep Parsons, though him opting out provides flexibility to explore the market. Justin Anderson‘s ability to handle an increased role as the season progressed also provides cover for letting Parsons walk.

Dallas projects to have about $24 million in cap space (counting cap holds for Chandler Parsons, Deron Williams and Dwight Powell). In other words, the Mavericks could spend that $24 million then exceed the cap to re-sign Williams, Parsons and/or Powell. Renouncing Parsons ($19,969,950 cap hold), Williams ($6,454,769 cap hold) and/or Powell ($1,180,431 cap hold) could give Dallas even more space to chase stars.

Expect the Mavericks to keep one foot in pitching Parsons to return, the other in looking for upgrades. Even if Dallas doesn’t work out, Parsons should have options elsewhere – unless his knee causes major concern in physicals. That’s the risk here, but you hope he got proper medical evaluations before making this decision.

It's probably because we're mostly white here. Also, pretty-boy players tend to be white, and tend to be middling players, so you focus more on the fact that they have Beiber hair or whatever.

We extended the QO to Leonard already, doesn't that mean we can't renounce him?

In order to make their free agent a restricted free agent, a team must submit a qualifying offer to the player between the day following the last game of the NBA Finals and June 30. The qualifying offer is a standing offer for a one-year guaranteed contract, which becomes a regular contact if the player decides to sign it. This ensures that the team does not gain the right of first refusal without offering a contract themselves.
A team may relinquish its right of first refusal, making the player an unrestricted free agent. If a qualifying offer is outstanding, the team can withdraw it unilaterally through July 23. It can be withdrawn after July 23 if the player consents, in which case the player is also renounced as a free agent.

Cuz meyers and parsons look like twilight characters. Is it cuz they're white?

It's the hair.

Food for thought here with Chris Haynes. Dude got absolutely played like a fiddle when he was in POR by agents. He had no filter when mentioning rumors on twitter.

I'd be weary of trusting him much

Honestly, I'm not too stoked on the Parsons news. But then I typically am not stoked on Olshey's initial plan.

I think we get some medical experts who know what the fuck they are doing to look at his knee. Parson is a High Risk High Reward FA

I admit i was not high on him until a few of you were talking about him as a possible FA. But before he got hurt he was really playing well. Carrying the team for a while. I didn't think he would leave Dallas, but if we have a shot, I would go for it. As long as his knees checked out.

Parsons in the $16M-18M range I could stomach. $18M+ doesn't feel like a good deal.

Why would he opt out to take a contract that's the same size

From all the stuff that's coming out, 16-18 is Bazemore and Crabbe range. Parsons is better than those guys

I thought Bazemore was a cheaper contract then crabbe
