According to the source, both Kaman and the #Blazers think the unrestricted free agent would be a “great fit” with team next season.

Well, it prob wouldn't take 8-9 mil to land Kaman.

He almost signed with us before signing with Dallas, right? Wouldn't be horrible to have him as a back up plan if Asik or whoever didn't work out.

It's really not that bad.

They're obviously not going to offer anything more than 2 years. It gives them a chance to contend (at least for the playoffs) if Kaman stays healthy. If not, he and Aldridge expire in the same year and we rebuild completely then.

Yeah, it's kind of underwhelming, but the options out there aren't really great. Let's be honest here.

This was from Quick's article at the end of the season:

"I think it's probably tough to get the big guys to come here, because you have L.A., Chicago, New York, Miami -- places that are major media markets for their endorsements and all that," Kaman said. "I think the weather is going to be a factor sometimes, too. But for guys who are in the middle of the pack like myself, it doesn't matter as much. Myself, I kind of like Portland. I like the outdoors, the Northwest is always a beautiful place for me."

Kaman signed a one-year free agent deal with Dallas last summer, choosing the Mavericks over Portland. He said his relationship with Olshey, whom he played under in Los Angeles, was why Portland made his final cut.

Well, he's a serviceable vet. I wouldn't pay him 8 million dollars he got last year though. It would be nice to split time with Leonard.

I think this signing screams confidence in Leonard. It's a great signing if you think Leonard will mature in the next couple of years to be our starting center.

Kaman is not a bad player and I think he will help us.

I think you could get Kaman for 5-6 million a year, so we would still have some space left. Possibly to acquire some assets from teams looking to unload guys.
