Wait, he went to Sunset? When did he graduate?

(I graduated from Sunset in 1995)...

I thought when Wes went down we should mine the D league for a talented young bottom of the bench guy. Now I know Neil Olshey looks to me for all his advice. Thanks to RipCity 2 for giving me a freeway to his brain! If you think this kid breaks a sweat in the playoffs, he's got a DNP tattoo but a leg up on Stotts system from the cheap seats. disclaimer, this post is not meant to be taken seriously:)

Haven't even seen the dude play and people already going ape shit over him.

You know, there's this thing called Youtube, where you CAN see him play. Which is what we're basing it off of.

*facepalm*

Nobody is going "ape shit". Some of us are glad we signed a third string point guard. Some posters point out he's one of the best point guards in the D-League and have provided stats. Are we not supposed to talk about or evaluate the newest Portland Trail Blazer? If discussing the ability and potential of a member of the Trail Blazers is irksome to you, maybe you should stick to your knitting chat site and leave the basketball to us.

Evidently, in some primate species calling a guy cheap insurance and saying hopefully we won't need him is considered praise worthy of throwing your feces.

The best part of this signing might be keeping him from the Rockettes.

Especially since their late season D-League call up won them a game against us in the playoffs last year. No sense letting history repeat itself.

Oops. That picture is his son, Michael Holton Jr...Senior went to Pasadena H.S. in Los Angeles until 1979. Before that as a college hippie I used to deliver the L.A. Times along Pasadena's Colorado Blvd. at 2 am. Other unrelated info:

Holton was fired in March 2006 after leading the Portland Pilots to a 54–91 win-loss record over five seasons. He still had three years remaining on his contract

That's what I was thinking.

You really need to fire your research department. The other day one of your lackeys intimated that Frazier would one day be a more important Blazer than Crabbe.

Clearly not to be taken seriously because of course the highway to Olshey's brain goes through some of those O-Live posters and Quick monitors the on/off ramps.

The fact that you think that there's even the slightest possibility that I didn't do that intentionally cuts me to the quick...
Oh, of course. Your cunning linguistic skills are extolled far and wide. But as people age, one never knows for sure.

He'll never play significant minutes.

This type of move - picking a player off the scrap heap and inking him for multiple, and non-guaranteed years, is a move recently employed by a number of the "smart" NBA teams. For instance, Chicago did this last year to put them in better position to sign Carmelo Anthony over the summer.

Here's how it works: Because the Blazers are over the salary cap, they can only sign Frazier to a minimum contract. In this case, they'll sign him for the remainder of the year, and that money will be guaranteed. In Frazier's case, he'll receive a prorated share of the NBA minimum of $507,000, which should amount to a total of about $50,000. Not bad for sitting on the bench a couple weeks.

However, Portland's also going to tack a 2nd year onto the deal, though it'll be non-guaranteed for the '15-'16 minimum of $525,000. The contract will include a specific date set during the summer (August 15, for instance) that allows Frazier's team to release him and cancel the remainder of the contract (or the entire season, in this case).

Looking at his actual time in the NBA, it would appear he cannot shoot a basketball.

Seems like an important skill for his chosen career.

A fair point but he somehow managed to get an assist on 40% of the plays he was involved in with Philly.

With Philly.

Philly.

These guys can't put a rock in the ocean from a fucking boat. But somehow he has a crazy assist rate.

He knows how to pass the ball to the right guy at the right time. That's a good skill to have too.

I could liken this post to your posting career.

You've stuck longer than most expected.
