Blazers trade for Afflalo and Alonzo Gee

So... we've an open spot... most likely, K. Perkins will b bought out; I think we can use his experience/grittiness. However, my first choice for the last spot, would b JaVale McGee (provided Phi. buys him out, I'm thinking/hoping this is the way they go w/ their glut of you bigs ;) if he's available.

The Blazers can win a title with Stott coaching. He has two things a winning coach needs. Stott has a passion for the game and he knows what works and what doesnt. The most important thing in basketball is passion. Ask any college coach that and he will agree.
Another thing Coach has? An "s" at the end of his name...

Sorry, couldn't resist, lol...

Perk is headed to Cavs or Clipps. And he's just awful anyway.

If JaVale is bought out, that would be huge. I'm expecting Gary Neil or Chase Buddinger to be targets if they are bought out.

Barton and Trob would be the two players I would pick to go to a state with legal marijuana.

So we could pick up TRob after Denver buys him out?

No. http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q100

A team cannot reacquire a player they traded away during that season (a season being July 1 - June 30). If he is waived by his new team, then he cannot re-sign with his original team until the one-year anniversary of the trade, or until the July 1 following the end of his contract, whichever comes first.

Nice I'm excited about this trade for sure. But it will be interesting come next offseason with so many people that we have to try and re-sign and I imagine we will try to re-sign Afflalo as well.
I think Neil choose Afflalo over Chandler for insurance in case Wes bolts. I doubt we resign both players.

I'm ok w/ Perk filling in behind Meyers (I'm not a huge fan of Perk but to get guys rest/act as filler-material, I'm on board ;)

Atl. & other teams r ahead of us for Neil (I don't think we could get him, though I don't mind if he comes here but I think more pressing for our team needs is to get another big; they say u can't have too many bigs!;p Chase... I'd take him or leave him, I think we need another fodder big more though ;)

Chandler's asking price was too rich. They seem to have him in the plans for next season with Lawson and Manimal. We can pick him up for cheap next season when the Nuggets end up firing Brian Shaw and doing their next fire sale.

I think now with Afflalo, we'll be able to keep Wes with the starting roster and rest him when the second unit comes in which will keep him fresh. It's a great day to be a Blazer! We just got a lot deeper on the bench

If we take on Javale, we're fucking idiots.
DEFINITELY beg to differ. ESPECIALLY @ how cheap he could come, not much risk (also, he's NOT a chemistry cancer; he's ACTUALLY a very weird cool guy that Blazer fans would love!:breakdance:)

I don't think we really need another big. Backup pt guard or SF maybe. Freeland will be back next week.

Sure, he'd be like Outlaw. Dumb as a bag of hammers but cool enough as a human being. But come on... Blazers on Shaqtin' a Fool every week?

With the way stotts has been using his bench, I wouldn't dismiss Gee just yet. I think he might get some defensive assignments on certain players.
@blazerbanter: The Blazers, both Stotts and Olshey, really like Alonzo Gee's ability on the defensive end to guard multiple positions.

@blazersblog: GM Neil Olshey on Alonzo Gee: "Alonzo's unique. ... he guards 3 positions, he's an NBA-caliber athlete ... elite defender."

This doesn't sound like a guy that's gonna be waving a towel.
