Anayltics are such a big part of the game and Portland uses them a lot.

Only two reasons to hate this:
1. It's arron not aaron so we can't pronounce his name a-a-ron
2. If you're a fan of players who are flashy
Somebody has to wear the suitI'm not even arguing against Afflalo, just Gee and his crappy shooting. If you're going to try to hold an argument you can't change the subject halfway through.
Shocking news.
what you have not acknowledged is Nic's horrible shooting all year and how teams are just laying off him and it's hurting our offenseI'm not even arguing against Afflalo, just Gee and his crappy shooting. If you're going to try to hold an argument you can't change the subject halfway through.
Yeah I wouldn't blame him either. Who knows, maybe Olshey is just feeling out the options. I like that he's taking a "pro active" approachI think it had to be in the back of Neil's mind. Wes is a huge part of this team. His intensity is as important as his shooting. But he is not a max player IMO. If someone wants to over pay for him then what do you do? Do you pay him more than 12-13 million a year?
No way I pay him 15. Someone might be crazy enough to do it and I would not blame Wes for taking it.

Lmao!!! You make it sound like Afflalo is the consolation prizeGreat news!!! I've wanted Gee on our team for a long time! Afflalo is good too!
smart move, never hirts to have some insurance and we improve the teamYeah I wouldn't blame him either. Who knows, maybe Olshey is just feeling out the options. I like that he's taking a "pro active" approach
Yeah, but what matters for "now" is this season and frankly it does not matter what Gee shoots as he won't get much burn, and Afflalos shooting will help a lot especially if Nic remains in this horrible shooting funk. ut Nic's shooting is hurting is, that cannot be denied. The only thing I said about Nic's shooting was that
1.) He's a better career shooter than Gee
and
2.) This season is likely an aberration.
My only argument is that Gee has never good shooter, that his percentages this year are backed by an incredibly small sample size. Bad shooting or not Gee isn't taking any minutes away from Batum. Hell, he'll probably have trouble earning minutes over Wright. Yeah, Batum might lose some minutes to Afflalo (who is also above Gee in the depth chart, btw), but I'm not disagreeing with that.
I can't believe there are folks in the world who don't love Afflalo... how on earth could he be underrated?

It's heavily influenced by how good the team is overall, so not really great comparing player to player imho. Do look at his DRtg versus the Team DRtg though to get a general "average, above average, below average" feel.Shockingly, Afflalo has had a better Drtg than Wes every year. How reliable is this stat? Can someone explain it?
Who? Alonzo Gee?
This is going to be a hoot with Rice.
I wasn't talking about Afflalo, I was talking about Gee. Gee isn't going to play, at all.

Your brought up Batum saying the defense respected him more than Gee which I disagreed with. Please learn how to follow the discussion.
he is this yr - what's to argue?Holy crap, can you read? I'm not arguing for Batum over Afflalo. I'm not even saying Batum is having a good season. My initial response was just to curb some people's enthusiasm on Gee's 3PT% this year.
If you're going to try and argue that Gee is a better shooter than Batum don't bring Afflalo into this conversation.
Did this trade kill the S2 servers? I'm seeing database errors left and right
We saw how hard it was for Dame when Aldridge was out. Now if we can stay healthy from here on out, the Afflalo deal maybe the best thing that happened to usPlaying on losing teams and having off years will do that. I am not too concerned since we can put him in position to use his talents efficiently. As noted, we are not stuck with Nic toughing it out thru injury/shooting slump.
I hate giving up a future first on a player that we could potentially only have for half a season. However, now is the time to try and win. Having AA's bird rights also gives us some insurance in case Wesley walks. Gee was a throw in that adds to our depth.
it should be a real shot in the arm, another solid shooter/scorer with experience, lots of different lineup possibilitiesWe saw how hard it was for Dame when Aldridge was out. Now if we can stay healthy from here on out, the Afflalo deal maybe the best thing that happened to us
