Excellent. Out of all the options we had for a backup center, Kanter for the TPE was at the top of my list.

We still have $4M to use in an unbalanced trade if we choose.

Basically the Mario/30th pick deal is one deal, and only legal because Memphis is also part of the deal absorbing Mario's contract.

One of my favorite short lived Blazers. So happy to have him back for the long term. Remember how much he beasted during the playoffs a couple years back? He loved the culture here and is a great guy.

Only minor gripe was his play suffers immensely during Ramadan.

We got him for fricking Mario? Awesome!

I'm fairly sure that's not how it works.

It sounds like we chose dumping Mario over the 30th pick. Since the pick Boston used to unload Kanter was sent to Memphis.

Net cost savings ~3 million with Mario's salary + rookie deal.

Correct. They consumed $5M of the $7M TPE. They now have $2M left over to use in future trades.

They also created a second $2M TPE with Mario leaving.

The best part about this is we would get destroyed on the glass last year when we went to our second unit. This should end that issue and help our rebounding a ton. Plus he played well with our guards. The biggest thing is he seems to want to be in Portland, with his post about going home.

Yeah, there is 2 million left of the 7 million TPE. The Mario deal is separate. His salary doesn’t decrease how much of the TPE we need to use to absorb Kanter.

I think Kanter's defense in the Denver series was one of the reasons they won. Jokic is a world class scorer, and Kanter absolutely made him work for his points, even only using one arm.
