Blazers v. Atlanta Game Thread

Blake gets minutes because he's supposed to be a shooter yet he's only shooting 35% this season. That's not good. He also misses every big shot. He also plays no defense.

He's killing the team.

Hey, choking the game away in the 4th quarter, it happens. But I hate losing a game due to bad (or corrupt) reffing. It just makes me thing, God, why do I even follow this sport.

I'd like to see Bayless get more PT, and less of Steve Blake. The damn hawks have punked us twice now. Once at home, now on the road.

Nate McMoron plays Steve Blake 40 minutes. And what's up with the Blazers in OT? We have a horrible record in OT, it's like we get kinda timid. Once the game goes into OT, I usually assume the Blazers will lose.

What was our OT record last year? I thought we were good in close games.

Why there is a question between him and Andre Miller is fucking mind boggling. It should be Andre and Rudy in that starting lineup.

He got us the big lead. He was throwing lobs and got us lots of the easy buckets Charles Barkley says we don't get. It's sad because it was his best game of the season until those last few minutes.

There shouldn't be a question. Blake is clearly not as good as Miller yet he still plays and misses way too many wide open shots for being a shooter. The whole reason he gets minutes over Miller is because he's supposed to be some good shooter yet he continues to fail.

It's terrible.

Unfortunately the only way to cut down Blake's minutes will probably be to trade him because I don't see Nate limiting him to about the 15-20 minutes a game he should be getting.

I agree. I hope this loss makes Nate re-adjust his starting lineup, moving Rudy in place of Blake.

Blake doesn't just bring shooting. Blake was the master playmaker tonight. He was the guy who was finding way to get us easy baskets.

That isn't the norm. It's actually very rare. Plus Andre Miller can make those same passes.

Blake is in there because he's a "shooter". He's just not good enough of a shooter for the role.

The notion that our PG MUST shoot 3s is fucking horrible. The game of basketball is won under the arc, not above. So fucking what, with what Andre can't bring in his 3 point shooting he can bring with defense, rebounding, better penetration, better passing, and better finishes at the rim. It's fucking retarded on so many levels.

if you dismiss the fact that being able to spread the floor with good shooting makes it easier for the team to succeed inside the 3 point line, then yes "it's fucking retarded".

Perhaps reading comprehension is not your strong point, because nowhere did I dismiss it.

The trade-off is with Roy, not Blake, if Miller starts without Blake and his 3pt shot there also.

It means Roy has to be the designated 3pt shooter to open the defense and let the inferior Andre be the go-to-the-basket guy. It's a total downgrade of our offense.

Might as well trade Roy for a pure 3pt shooter.

What about this starting lineup"

Miller
Roy
Rudy
LMA
Oden

Man that was entertaining!

The thread, not the game.

Thanks guys.

lol....reading these last few pages was much better than paying attention in class

Its too bad EVERYBODY is allowed to post on the internet :devilwink:

It's great. I mean if we want a shooter out there with Roy and Miller then it should be Rudy getting the bulk of the minutes and not Blake. It seems everyone associated with the team, be it Mike and Mike, KP or Nate, they all have a non-curable man crush on Blake and its not helping us win games, especially important ones like tonights or the one against Atlanta a week ago at home.

You know me so well... definitely wearing my anti-blake jersey right now (it's custom made).

Is it reversible to complement your anti-Roy jersey?

Scary thoughts running through your head.

Yeah, Blake was bad in the clutch, but the Blazers as a whole were pretty worn out in the 4th. There's not much to really be complaining about. We lost, big deal. The season goes on.

Fire Nate, Cut Blake, Waive Outlaw! :ohno:

Oh, and Oden is being held back by everyone.

WOW! Just landed (Very rough landing on BlazerOne!) and read some of this thread and am blown away. We just played 5 games in 7 nights and pushed a very good team to overtime. Some of the guys played like shit down the stretch and we lost. Why is everybody freaking out on here? When we win by 15 against the Pistons, a lot of the same people on here that were going crazy tonight will probably claim we will go undefeated the rest of the season! It cracks me up how high and how low some of you get on here.

I don't care that they lost HCP, I care that Assclown continues to overuse Blanky, and underuse Oden. It's a pattern that will get us out of the playoffs early again.

Very true. You win big games in the paint, not the perimeter. I didn't get to see much of the game though, so I am unsure what went down. All I noticed was that about halfway through the game, Aldridge had 14 points. Near the end of the game he hit a bucket, and that put him at 16. So he basically was successful for a half, and then what happened? Did we go away from him? Did he just miss shots? If something is working, make them stop it. Dont' stop doing it.

If we did that, once they stopped it, people would just complain that we went to it for too long, and Nate was stupid to keep doing the same thing over and over. Especially if they stopped it at an important time of the game.
