Ditto. The only thing better than participating in game threads is not participating in them and reading every entry after you know the outcome of the game. It's very, very telling. :)

Yes, this thread is to:

Some highlights.

I'm done with Outlaw. I've been one of the guys that is reluctant to give up on any of the guys on this team, but I've reached my limit with Outlaw this season. Time to package him and Raef's contract for something. Throw in a pick if we have to.

Bye Travis.

Blake has completely shit the bed tonight.

This will be a painful loss. The L*kers haven't even played that well. Incredible.

How many OPEN FUCKING SHOTS can we miss???

I guess we all have our moments, don't we.

Just gotta say reading the progression of this thread was hilarious.

This ++

I didn't get a chance to watch the game tonight as the shit hit the fan at work. :D And I didn't have the patience to wait and watch it later tonight on the DVR so I just checked the score, saw we won, then read this thread for pure comedy!

For all you guys that are up and down band wagon fans and who BITCH on here all the time............. you are all a bunch of punk ass bitches! Quit following the team, they don't need you!

Its a heat of the moment kind of thing.

Like that one time I said I was cancelling my season tickets when KP traded Zach and got squat back for him. Yeah I was pretty damn short-sighted.

Somewhat close, but no cigar.

23 pts, 10 assists, 3 steals, 4rbs

And not a lick of defense.

The thing about Bayless tonight, is that in addition to his offensive production, his 1-on-1 defense was intense.

While it was a different team that year (Roy's rookie year), the biggest reason why one could argue that Jerryds game was more impressive was that it came in a win.

Does anyone know how many times Sergio followed up that game with similar games?

3 Steals + 4 rebounds = defense.

As Kingspeed likes to say, learn the game. Then post.

Why everyone feels they have to exagerrate Bayless's foul-prone stabs at defense as something better than average is beyond me. He's a good player who will get better, but he makes a lot of defensive rookie mistakes, can't get through a pick for the life of him, and rarely stops penetration by his opponent.

I'm thrilled with his potential, but his team defense has been less than average so far, and his one-on-one defense about average for a rookie.

And offensively, except for nice spurts in 3 out of the last 10 games, he's nowhere to be found.

Trick question?

I sort of disagree.

The reason we came back tonight was because of Bayless' defense on Daniels, and Joel's defense on West. (scoring points helped too, but trading baskets wouldn't have done any good) Bayless and Joel took the Hornets out of the game. THAT is why Jerryd's game is more impressive than Sergio's.

Isn't that two more than the one "water into wine" game that you constantly reference from Sergio's rookie season?

If Joel can get that ball in the basket, we would've cut it to 8. Now we're down 16. This game fell apart when Travis got his third foul. He was shooting us back into game. We need him back on the floor.

Classic!

Somebody uses steals and rebound totals to define defense, and then says to learn the game.

I love it!! :biglaugh:

yeah, that was pretty good.

C'mon people, MARIS is just trying to get a rise out of people and it works every time.

This may be the best game thread ever. I'm so glad I decided to not post and to just watch the game (thanks KGW!).

Like others here I do tend to get emotional during the game. I'm usually pretty level headed but I go through a lot of ups and downs but I certainly wouldn't consider myself a bandwagoner. I was damn close to turning the game off in the third and I'm very glad I didn't. Great finish.

Dear god... did we really just win this game? I just got home after tuning it out once CP3 went down. I thought we had no chance in hell (we were down 20?!).

Fuck.. this is unbelievable. We were playing sooooooooo shittily and I could not stand those announcers. I am so happy that we sent them a giant "FUCK YOU" by winning that game and CP3 going down.

Oh man.. oh man. Does anyone have a recording they could upload of the 4th quarter? Or is NBATV going to replay this tonight? AHhhhh.

Take that Byron Scott! I'm so glad Joel was instrumental in shutting down West in the 4th quarter and helping the Blazers get the win. Byron Scott called Joel one of the dirtiest players in the league - after Tyson Candler deliberately chopped Joel's injured wrist the last time these teams met. And, he reiterated that opinion before this game. It's simply not true and makes Scott look like a fool. With Paul out, West was their one and only offensive option and Joel totally shut him down. Props to Joel. It doesn't show up in the box score, but he was a difference maker tonight.

BNM

Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but Nate just glanced at Scott and didn't go shake his hand after the game.

I loved it. Scott is a punk.

MIXUMS THOUGHTS ON ORleans GAME....

- Bayless killed sergio tonight. Im wondering how long before bayless starts over sergio.

- Blazers cant defend the paint against good pgs....paul and deron murdered us. this is a big issue.

- Obvioulsy anyone who watched knew the blazers had this game at the 6 minute mark. You can always tell when a team is done. Hornets had no chance.

- Amazing comeback BUT still the fact we were down by 20 is upsetting. Hornets are not that great IMO.

- Basically if you have 31-32 wins at the break....you should be a LOCK for playoffs which would mean all we need is 20 wins by april 15th. We have 30. If we cant get 1 more...that would be depressing since we play the thunder and knicks. I almost say 100% we lose to dallas which hurts big time in case of tie breakers.
That loss on xmas was bad one for us.

- Outlaw has won us about 5 games but prob lost us just as many with his defense. He might be the most puzzling player i've ever seen....

- Hornet announcers are just scumbags... at one point there quote was "theres your all star" referring to roys tough night. Sorry guys.... but soon LA ill be taking wests spot.

- Again nice win but the defense is a joke. I dont know if its fixable with the roster we have. our PGs are just not anywhere near quality defenders and that includes blake. bayless is too young yet to determine. paul must have been licking his chops to face sergio. hes awful.

- If we beat dallas, that will be about as big a win as we"ve had all year. We NEVER Win there. they have owned us for a loooooong time.

Sometimes Karma has a weird way of paying visits. Blazer fans all know this, because we've had several visits from Karma. But I wonder if the NOH announcers remember the 25-10-6 (thats 10 assists) on 11-15 shooting in the 101-86 W that the Blazers had earlier this year.

Hey HCP, do you know if they are going to replay this game at any time? I know they usually don't replay the games on KGW, but i hope there's an exception for this one.:smiley-pray:

I have it on DVR if that helps.

You had to pull this one up. :tsktsk:

I made it right after Trav threw the ball into the stands, and consequently afterwards, CP3 began to massage his hammy.

I only pulled it up because it was the most honest and blatant insult toward a Blazer I saw in this thread.

No worries. Had I been posting live, I'd have been kicking myself over a few things.

whoa. I deleted that post 'cause I thought I had made a mistake about the whole sequence but you made your response before I edited it.

Just checked the play again. It was the right play.

Outlaw threw it away, and Paul was obviously hurt on the inbounds play immediately after.

Not as silly as pretending they aren't a huge part of it, along with not allowing your opponent to score on you, which Paul was unable to do against Sergio.

You apparently use giving up 7 points on 3 straight attempts and committing stupid fouls to define defense.:dunno:

Sergio and Bayless each scored 6 points on Paul with Bayless getting 13 against scrubs.

Sergio 6 - Paul 0

Bayless 6 - Paul 12

Both did fine considering, but Sergio defended admirably, Bayless was outmatched and a step slow.

Bayless rules!

That'll be a book title in a few years :bgrin:

Paul was able to get 7 assists on Sergio in the first quarter. That's a result of Sergio's defense letting Paul get wherever he wanted.

Yet, Sergio couldn't sniff playing time against those "scrubs" and Bayless did.
