I think Dame would take that 16/15/3 this season.
i saw him literally push hassan into place after screens and scream at him to sprint cuz the dude was so lazy. highly doubt your stance here.

Whiteside ending up with 2 minimum contracts after his career year here shows me exactly what the league thinks of him

I just hope to Christ he doesn't look at social media...
he posted stories of his "highlights" on instagram last night.

one was his announcement on the starting lineup.
the other was the jump ball.
then him high-fiving an assistant while coming to the bench for a timeout.

i think he's oblivious to the vitriol. a part of me feels bad for him. then i realize he's making almost a mil this year to play ball.

Sorry bro, I’d take the leading rebounder and shot blocker in the entire league over whatever Nance is going to give us. Thats just @THE HCP though.
There are two sides to the ball. It's like you can't see what's happening right in front of you. Well, that's what Mrs. HCP tells me....

Never argued or questioned this. I’m saying Dame would LOVE to have Whiteside on our roster. He’d be the best backup in the game.

So the question is who fits best with those three? And I think it is Nance over RoCo because of his passing.

Nance's passing is stellar. So...play him with the guys who dominate the ball so he'll never get to touch it? Lillard/CJ/Nance/Nurk shouldn't be in at this same time (unless end of game) because it would leave the other lineups devoid of ball handling/playmaking. I do think it makes sense to run Nance/Nurkic at times when Dame/CJ are both on the bench and do some high-lo action like last night with Powell and Simons.

My takeaways:

The Blazers do seem to have a lot more ball movement and player movement. We had a lot of turnovers, but that's going to happen when you're playing guys like Blevins significant minutes. If that's the offense we actually run in the regular season, it'll be a lot harder to trap Dame.

Nance has a quiet competence about him that's very similar to Roco. If he takes every minute Melo used to, our defense will be light years better this year without really losing a lot on the offensive end. After years of one dimensional forwards like Melo, Collins, Aminu and Harkless, who could do one thing reasonably well but couldn't be relied on for much else, it'll be nice to have a pair of really well-rounded guys out there who aren't world-beaters but can do everything at least ok.

Nurk is who he is. When Nurk fever was in full swing his first season, I had hopes he could be a top 5 center. But I think he's always going to be a little flaky, a little too easy to get out of his game on the mental side. He's a good center and I think even a championship-calibre center, but he's not nor will ever be a franchise center. He looked a little more nimble out there--I think he has dropped a little more weight.

Dennis Smith Jr, at least for one night, looked exactly like I hope Nassir will look this year. How the hell is he, a guy drafted 9th, on his 4th team and he's only 23? And he's been on some really, really terrible teams. A 24 win Mavs team. A 17 win Knicks team. A 20 win Pistons team. How is it none of these teams could find a use for the guy? It feels like we could have dug up another Tim Frazier here. Say what you want about Olshey (and I think it's deserved) but is there a better dumpster diver in the league? The guy can sniff out a perfectly edible ham sandwich at the bottom of a compost heap.

I'm still not sold on Ant as a true point guard. But he seems to do a lot of CJ and Dame things, albeit less competently. With the motion offense we seem to be running, maybe that's just fine.
I cannot fathom the notion that Olshey is the one sniffing these guys out. He has scouts and analytics experts for that.

Lillard/CJ/Nance/Nurk shouldn't be in at this same time (unless end of game) because it would leave the other lineups depleted. I don't think a Smith, Ant, Nasir, Zeller, and RoCo is a depleted bench. But if you want to add more offense then you can still include a starter with the bench.

I also think you need to build some chemistry with your best players, and IMO a Dame, CJ, Norm, Nurk, Nance is your best overall lineup unless you are playing the Lakers. Then you need to go bigger. But I would not decide on my starting lineup based on the possibility of meeting LA in the playoffs.

Sounds like you are basing your lineup off a Terry Stotts offense. I am going off of what Chauncey is saying he wants to see with the offense. And that is more ball movement. So yeah I think having both Nurk and Nance setting screens and passing to 3 guards is a good idea.

It's sad because this is the first time I truly believe that I could do what an "NBA player" is doing on an NBA court... Any of us could luck into 1 rebound in 31 minutes...

The plan is to not have Dame and CJ dominate the ball, and Nance fits into that plan.

What's amazing is how little Whiteside actually contributes to winning, despite his stats.
Will you judge Zeller the same this season. Will his 9ppg and 6reb a game mean more to our success than Whitesides league leading numbers? I hope we will be able to even see, considering in his career he averages just 58 games a season. We’ll see.

Ah memories. I don't think I have ever seen a player who could put up such nice stats and have so little impact on the actual outcome of the game.

And I'm pretty freakin old. I know i could get a rebound. I could have even passed the ball to someone who could make a shot i think?

Well, if he didn't find the guy, he found the guy who found the guy. Or he found the guy who found the guy who found the guy.

Regardless, Olshey's reign at GM has been characterized by these nifty little bargain bin treats.
