That inbound play to Outlaw with 35 seconds left was much more impressive after seeing the breakdown of it. I'm sure had Outlaw missed, people would have been howling about the wild shot, but it turns out that it was exactly the shot that the coaching staff wanted in that situation. And that's one of the reasons you don't get rid of Outlaw without getting a key piece to the team in return. Very few players in the NBA could get a clean look on a play like that. I'm positive no one else on the current roster would have that play called for them.

Agreed with everyone else. I love that kind of stuff. Don't these teams scout Brandon? The guy loves going left, but yet teams continue to force him to go left.
Y'know... this would be the kind of stuff that I'd watch for in our postgame show rather than "Michael, tell me what they won??" I'd be much more inclined to watch the postgame if they broke down plays, or if the Blazers dedicated a show each week to this type of thing.

PapaG, I know we generally disagree on Travis arguments. On this one, you're right about everything except that "people would be howling about the wild shot", b/c the play WAS drawn up for him out of an out-of-bounds play. The parts that I generally don't like Travis hanging around for are the "brain fart" plays...and he almost did it again after the rebound with 9 seconds left.

He's a great tool to have, when he uses it for good. I don't mind Nate drawing up plays like that. i don't even mind if he has to bail someone out with a wild 22-footer to beat the shot clock. I mind when he shoots contested shots early in the clock with a big lead...I mind when he attempts to dribble up the floor against a pressure defense, I mind when he loses his man on defense.

I like when he uses his skills for good (like he did on the two jumpers)
