Lillard is definitely a point guard, that is for sure.

It's probably been mentioned countless times throughout this thread, but the offense looks night and day different than last year. No isos! As a consequence, Aldridge maybe doesn't get as many shots as we'd want him to take. I'm sure they'll tweak it to get him more looks. It didn't seem to bother him, he looked engaged on defense and grabbing boards. All five players touch the ball on possessions. Guys moving. And it looks like they've run it for years, as there weren't sloppy, unsure turnovers that have haunted us in the past. Stotts appears to have these guys' attention! Fun game to watch.

QFT.

I'm loving the movement in the offense. Everyone touches the ball. I saw claver, Babbit, Wesley, LA, Freeland, and even Leonard at the top of the key with the ball at some point. Then Moving it to the wing after a guy comes off the down pick. I'd like to see that double screen a little more but I'm sure they'll incorporate that. Stotts has my vote of confidence.

Przy was a warrior. Please don't compare him to Babbitt.

Don't tell me what to do, n00b. Two pages complaining about Babbitt is stupid for a game thread. It's the same 4 people posting the same shit over and over and over again.

I liked Przy. I think Babbitt has a role. I just don't see the point on hijacking a game thread to complain aobut a guy who played 15 minutes and actually had 5 rebounds at the PF spot.

Something that hasn't been noted, but the effort on defense by everybody who played was remarkable, to say the least.

7 Assists (8 really. I could have swore they missed one) in 23.5 Mins. Everyone touching the ball. This game made me feel good inside.

I kinda expected Lillard to play solidly but I'm more impressed with how Leonard played. He ran the floor well. Set solid picks (for the most part).
Made his shots. Got above the rim. Let's hope he can keep that up past preseason.

You get out of a game thread what you put into it. Don't bitch about the game thread if you weren't putting in the effort to participate.

He said please.

Is that part of the new TOS? No bitching abou a preseason game thread ending in a meltdown when the team wins by 18 points? Pathetic.

Anyhow, Babbitt played PF tonight as Stotts said he would , while Morrison/Claver/Pav were playing SG/SF, for those who actually cared to watch the game when they weren't scurrying to theirlaptops to impart their latest nugget of wisdom.

That's a bit of a douchey answer. I was trying to be civil...

I'm new to S2 sure. But I've been a fan since 76' and have posted on OLive for the longest. And I'm right. Babbit and Przy should never be in the same sentence.

Is that part of the new TOS?

It will be once I buy the site from Denny. Also going to start banning conservative OT threads because I'm a small, petty man

Quit your whinin'!! Straighten up and fly right!

PapaG just hates it when someone harps on the same thing over and over and over and over and over.

If there was one thing I could say about Lillard tonight, his Defense needs some work. I expect it to get much better throughout the season. It'll be interesting to see if he hits the rookie wall.

That said, he's already the most legitimate triple-double candidate on the team.

My takes on some of the new guys.

Lillard- Took a while to assert himself (was kinda shocked how little he handled the ball the first quarter and half) but showed a poised passing game all the way through. Could have easily finished this game with 10 assists. The no look to Hickson was just nasty. His D is was very lackadaisical though much like it was in college. Hopefully Stotts gets on him about that.

Meyers- Played well this game. Showed the passing skill that we've heard about and looks very comfortable reading the D and making passes from the high post. Won't need much from him offensively, but if he can just set good screens and roll hard and continue to run the floor, he's a guy that could give 6-8 points a game if he gets somewhere around 20 min. Think his defensive awareness and fouling issues keep him from playing any more than that though this year.

Freeland- Didn't get to see him as much as we thought but I think he showed that he can be a guy that can fill in behind LA and Hickson. Plays hard, and has a nice little all around game. Can score down low against back up bigs and also space the floor a bit even though his J was off a bit this game.

Jefferies- This guy is going to play. Not going to give you much offense but just knows where to be defensively.

Claver- Definitely looks like a tweener, but I like his fluidity. Played some nice active D down the stretch. For a guy 6 10", he can really move his feet. If he can show some shooting touch, I think he might be a better spread 4 option than Babbitt. Not sure if he rebounds well enough though. We'll see.

Price- I think he ends up the primary back-up at the point. Not really a great set-up guy but doesn't force things. Good defender and is able a score a bit in the pnr. The big thing for me as to why I go with Price over Nolan though is quickness. Nolan is damn slow for a pg. For a bench lacking talent I think you need a guy that has somewhat of an ability to get a shot off either on his own or off a pick when things break down.

Barton- Hopefully he can get his hamstring right a play a bit this preseason. I think he's a better talent than Nolan and could pair well with Price of the bench.

So happy the Blazers are Back!!!

Well, this is going to be an interesting season on the board. An O-live reject comes in and starts dominating the discourse, and then plays the victim.

Reminds me of myself 6 years ago when I left ESPN and set up camp at BBF.

So, the new TOS states that you can't comment on a thread unless you were actively participating in that thread at all times.

Mmmkay

Speaking of coming in, dominating discourse, then playing the victim...

Dude STFU...

An O-live reject......

Link!!

Actually, he's been a respected poster at O-Live for quite a long time. Oh, and a great guy to have a beer with! Speaking of which, I've always wondered why you have never shown your face at S2 events? I'm willing to wager that you'd be fun to have a brew with, as well. :)

He might be worried someone would learn that hes actually Brian Wheeler.
