Biggest disappointment was Barton, he didn't show much IQ in this game, trying to drive and take shots that weren't there...couldn't break his man down....

At least we drafted him at 40.

They were definitely the bright spots. Lillard's was jekyll and hyde in the 1st and 2nd half. Leonard had a great game too, but I think he needs to work on his moves inside. He had some trouble when he had the ball at point blank position.

Don't expect Leonard to show back to the basket post moves in summer league. It's very rare for anyone.

Katy Brown.... I can't think of a worse sports journalist in the city. She was, by far, the worst person in the locker room when I was covering the team. She. Is. Horrible.

I love Joel but he's never had the foot speed Leonard has.

He was pretty decent in 2005-6 after he lost the Milwakee weight... But that was just the one year. Leonard is freaking fast out there... Ardvydas at 20 fast?

Leonard has a lot of room to improve offensively, very, very raw. However, the guy has good rebounding fundamentals and plays strong D. Got a little timid at the end, just jumping up and not actually trying to block the shot. I like what I saw from him. Great potential. Couple immature plays though, such as the circus shot, haha.

Well to be fair, I hated his guts and I post often enough that it probably skewed the vibe of the discussion.

That's kind of why I conceded the point; it's very possible that I was just reading the same people hating on him repeatedly. I also remember not supporting him at all.

Abby does her homework. She often stumps Dwight, but he scrambles for some answer because he KNOWS ALL.

Barton missed first day of camp, and I think it showed. I think he'll be fine later.

Lillard shot 8-11 in the 2nd half

Says he only had 4 assists. Seems low for what I watched.

I agree -- for the most part I didn't even notice Barton out there outside a few passes he made.

This has me juiced. Fuck. 1am on a Sunday night and I'm thinking about how awesome our rookies were in their debut.

Who'd you guys find more impressive: Dame or Myers?

Lillard getting some twitter love from non-Portland media.

Interesting that his final stats pretty much match his college stats.

I wouldn't say very, very raw. He can make FTs and actually does have a jump shot.

Dude, all Bayless did was drive to the hole over and over and over. It was all he did, and half his points were from the line. Add to that, he never passed the ball. Lillard is quite the specimen. Dude looks like all muscle. He's going to be a terror next year.

I was at that Summer League when Bayless was destroying and Lillard looks nothing similar. Lillard showed more PG skills in this game than Bayless has in his entire NBA career.

Needs to watch the personal fouls if he wants any chance at putting up those numbers in the regular season

Yeah it is. But points and boards are about the only stats they get right in SL. Leonard was robbed of half of his blocks.

Well, it was a generalizing statement. But I remember in all our pre-draft threads, a lot of people would've taken Rivers at 6 or what not. Most people were either very against or very pro drafting him,

Not true your memory is way off. It was all about Harrison Barnes, Drummond or Lilliard. I think there was a rumor that the Blazers liked Rivers at 6 for a minute but I don't remember anyone clamoring for Rivers at 6. A few people at 11 maybe.

Lillard impressed me with his clutch play in iso and with the pick and roll. Leonard really impressed me with solid picks and actual rolling. Can he start at PF instead of C?

Since Lillard was taken 6th, he pretty much played as I was hoping he would. Leonard on the other hand was very impressive. The guy is solid. Hopefully he follows up this game with a solid summer league and carries it over to training camp. I think he has the potential to be very good.

And what dumbass came up with the thought of making Rivers a PG? That guy is about as straight a SG as they come. He should be terrific in that Jason Terry role, but he is no PG.

I suppose SL is the venue to give it a shot though.
