Cant watch the game, is the defense better than Stott's defense despite the score?

They're giving up more, open 3's, in a different scheme than they did last year.

However, it's probably best we try something new to shed some light to those who felt it was the scheme that was the big issue. Scary to think what the defense would be like tonight if we put in Melo and Kanter.

Not a lot to take away from the first exhibition game of the preseason. The team is still learning the new systems, which is to be expected. If Dame and CJ are playing they'll shoot us into the game regardless. It looks like Nurk is going to spread the court this season with the three ball. Other than that just a sloppy game where the only new thing I saw from anyone on the team was Ant showing some ability to initiate offense as an actual backup PG. I also thought that Dennis Smith Jr. and Cody Zeller looked like legit backups at their positions.

After 1 preseason game, nothing has moved me off my stance that this will be a team that finishes between 3rd-8th (depending on injury luck) and given the matchup will be a 1st-2nd round team. Hopefully that's enough to keep Dame around.

Good News: Zeller better than Kanter but looks like injury prone. Smith looks great as another back up PG. Nance defense better than Carmelo.

Nothing has moved my stance that the sky is blue (during the day).

God damn you Kevin Calabro, why are you back? To ruin my day? Who gives a shit where Hurd ice-skated. Fuck you.

And the players have said that defense has been a major focus.... so you'd think you'd see SOME improvement, no?

Now they have some game film to go off of. Teaching players who have been in a system where they’ve never been held accountable on that side of the ball doesn’t just change suddenly.

I think the only thing this game showed was that in the 1st half, when the starters played, their defense was better. Still bad, but better.

The 2nd half showed that having the majority of the players who weren't on the team last year have no chemistry.

But the biggest thing to take from the game is that Elleby and Blevins both are not NBA players.
