"I recently made a trip to Adelsheim and Beaux Frères, to learn more about their wines and their history … Adelsheim has some really good Pinot Noir and blanc de blancs … I recommend the Chehalem Mountain Breaking Ground Pinot Noir, for about $45—you can't go wrong: It's high acidity, with cherry, raspberry and strawberry flavors." McCollum talks regularly about his favorite wines and his 600-bottle cellar, and it seems like his employers have been listening: In honor of the NBA team's 50th anniversary, the Blazers are partnering with Adelsheim to create two limited-edition Rip Citywines, a Pinot Noir and a Chardonnay, which will go on presale to Club Adelsheim members and Trail Blazers season ticket holders next month, and be officially released Sept. 24.

“Making this wine was such an honor for our whole team,” said Adelsheim winemaker Gina Hennen in a statement. “As a Blazers fan, to be able to team up with the Blazers to create this special, limited-edition wine to commemorate the team’s 50th anniversary has been a dream come true. I think fans will love it as much as we do.” The winery is also treating season ticket holders to complimentary wine tastings at the tasting room (no word yet on whether McCollum qualifies as a "season ticket holder").

Besides repping some of the best Rieslings in the world, he’s the GM at one of the better Willamette Valley Pinot Noir producers (J. Christopher). Interestingly enough, this weekend is the annual International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC) in McMinnville, for which he is the current president. I’m sure he can recommend plenty of tasty Pinots.....

600 wines and I only had 61.
I might propose the Chateau La Tour Saint Emilion or their Pauillac. I've only had two of their bottles of Saint Emilion and lusted for a bottle of their Pauillac.
A cheaper but still excellent wine comes from the Mondavi brothers' Napa valley company. There once was one company owned by I believe was two sisters and three brothers. The two sisters and one brother wanted to branch into the cheaper coastal wines which I've tasted and are junk while the other two brothers wanted to continue with their Napa Valley operation that turned out high quality wines. I believe there is some bad blood in this split.
A still cheaper wine that is almost as good as the Mondavi Napa Valley wines is in the state of Washington in the Columbia valley. The company is called Columbia and there is a Red Willow Valley which I believe is in the Columbia Valley that turns out some really good wines. This is the one I highly recommend. They used to have a vintner by the name of David Lake who put his name on the label of his best wines and they were well worth the money. I'm going to stick with my Red Willow, Columbia cabernet sauvignon as the best red wine for the price. They use to sell it at Costco.
