I actually think he is, and should be, our main target in this draft.

Lawson is by many evaluations, the best PG of this crop. I also noticed they are working out Suton, who is a very good player in my book, even though he is a big that can shoot from the outside. The guy is just flat out skilled in putting the ball in the hoop.

Lawson seems to be going under the radar a bit among the crop of PGs coming out. I think he'll make a good backup in this league.

Of all of the more "available" point guards in this draft (or at least most attainable) I think Lawson has the greatest potential to be a real player -- he's definitely behind Rubio as a prospect, but compared to everyone else I'm not sure you could make a real strong case against him.

Whatever, I'm not really hitching my hopes to this draft, trades and free agency is where I want to see KP work his juju.

There is more to the game than shooting, and he shoots fine. There is something to be said for defense, and keeping our talented bigs out of foul trouble, and out on the floor being productive. How does Steve Blake's 3 point shooting do that?

I am not a fan of Lawson...but he can shoot and he was frickin on fire in the NCAA tourney....

Not sure what kind of NBA PG he will be....Raymond Felton?

He shot 47% from three this season.

He's a half an inch shorter than Chris Paul.

Lawson is an interesting player. He ran (and I mean really ran) the most potent offense in the NCAA. He took a bunch of non-lottery players and got them over 90 pts/game (second in the NCAA).

I think the real reason the Blazers are slow is Nate doesn't want turnovers, and the only way Blake can run the offense without them is to slow it up. Brandon is also slow on the break.

If Lawson could come in and push the ball, defend and hit the open shot, I bet he could really speed things up for Portland.

I'm not sure he is under the radar, but I think he is very undervalued. My fear isn't with his shooting touch, it is wondering if he can get his shot off against NBA defenders.

Why? Rubio is a very long term project player and Flynn is fool's gold. At least Lawson is proven.

1. Speed. He is the fastest guy in the draft, one of those guys that will beat you from free throw line to free throw line. This helps get easy transition buckets.

2. Physicality. The dude is built like a brick. He uses his speed, bodies up, creates separation, gets his shot. Much in the same method that Billups and Chris Paul do.

3. North Carolina guards tend to be under rated and then do fine in the NBA.

4. Coaching. He has had a great run learning under Roy Williams, who has turned out a load of NBA talent from his programs. He uses a system that works well when transitioning to professional ball.

Good post. Lawson may not be the next great PG, but he's a certain upgrade over what we have.
