Because in a normal game setting, you usually will only need three dribbles or so to break down a defense, and using more than that is worse for the team and allows help side defense to dig/double/etc.
When scoring 1 on 1 in the halfcourt in a real game, you only should use 3 dribbles.
That rule cuts out the 15 second isolation dribble ove cheese and the back someone under the basket for 15 seconds stuff.
I mean it’s whatever, you just gotta negotiate and agree to rules first hand. Idk about normal games and 3 dribbles. If youre a PG you need to take a lot more than 3 dribbles.
