Bosh v. LMA

Remember a few years ago when LMA looked like a poor man's Chris Bosh? He was averaging 20+ ppg, 10+ rpg. I remember thinking how nice it would be to upgrade LMA to Bosh, and how LMA would never have that killer instinct. Guess I was waaaayyyyy wrong.

I know Bosh has had to sacrifice some in Miami's system, but I'm really amazed at how far he has dropped off compared to LMA, and how far LMA has come, considering they have very similar games.

In all fairness, bosh has a much reduced role on Miami. But Aldridge right now looks so much better than Bosh did in his prime. Curious how it pans out.

I keep forgetting about that! Yeah maybe Aldridge just wasn't as nba ready as bosh from the gate? Looks like bosh is sooo much older for some reason

Bosh is a fucking pussy. Yes on offense they want him to shoot jumpers as a floor spacer that makes a lot of sense and he is great at it. But thats a role Matt Bonner or dozens of other low salary bench players can fill. On defense they desperately need someone to rebound and he gives them 5.0 rebounds per game last year and 4.6 this year. That’s pathetic. Aldridge is getting 7.8 defensive boards this year. Bosh is close to the paint on defense with a team that forces lots of missed shots; he should be getting tons of boards.

Last year in game 7 of the finals he had ZERO points! How the hell do they call it a “big 3” when you have a player on a max contract getting ZERO point in the biggest game of the season? Bosh is playing like a 38 year old Juwan Howard. Its good enough to win a title when you stand next to the best basketball player of all time but he is a joke.

The point of the thread isn't that he wasn't a great player, it is that he is only 29 and is playing like he is 40. I take that back, Parish averaged 7.3 rebounds at 40. The point is that he seems to have lost his mojo, while LMA is just finding his.

Maybe it is a matter of Bosh accomplishing all his goals and just not caring that much anymore.

For the record I think Aldridge is the better player ATM and I'm not especially fond of Bosh; I just thought Bosh was getting a little short changed in this thread. If Bosh & Aldridge switched teams and roles I think after some adjusting Miami would be more dominant and Portland wouldn't be doing so well.

I do think Bosh would've made the All-Star teams in either Conference. I also think it's a little unfair to him to hold the quality of his teammates and the Conference against him. The point of him going to that team was to share the load with two top players.

LA is far more consistent. He has more 'moves' as well.

Bosh is almost a spot up kinda guy. I never see and post moves or fadeaway moves.

When LaMarcus entered the league he was a one-trick pony, jump-shooting big man, who couldn't dribble, didn't know how to play in the post, played soft and was asked to play second and third fiddle right from the start. Bosh started off his career in Toronto as the man, he could create his own shot and he while he wasn't necessarily the most physical player, he rebounded well and was a consistent producer.

Fast forward four or five years and I don't think it's that Bosh suddenly forgot to play basketball, he's just basically in that third fiddle role LaMarcus started out in (to LaMarcus' credit he's molded himself into a great power forward, maybe eclipsing Bosh's best when he was the undisputed alpha dog of the Raptors).

Put Bosh on a team where he's the undisputed number 1 again and I think you'd probably see his numbers go right back to what they were before he became the Aquaman to Lebron's Superman and Wade's Batman.
