Kreider has another year left, so he doesn't get a raise. And the cap will go up 3 or 4 mill and MSL will come down at least 2.5 if not 3 mill, or he will be gone.

I do agree with one point only, not having a high pick in 2015 may hurt as this is going to be a deep draft. Now looking at the 1st round draft picks for NY Rangers since 2004. How many of the picks actually worked out? I see two picks so far.... Stall and Krieder. We don't know about others yet. JT and Dylan McIrath don't impress me that much. I don't think it will be too hard to replace those two if need be. Skjei has not played in NHL yet.
We all were very high on Del Zotto at some point. Had we taken Fowler instead of Dylan McIlrath probably that pick would have worked out. Most of our picks came in later rounds that should have been in the first. Stepan should have been 5th overall that year, Callahan and Dubinksy should have been 1st rounders. I am not even mentioning Lundqvist and Girardi in the prior years.
Let's look.
Had we had better 1st round scouting or luck I would agree with the article.
Here are our picks since 2003
2003 - Jessiman
2004 - Al Mantoya
2005 - Stall
2006 - Bobby Sanguinetti
2007 - Cherepanov (rest in piece)
2008 - Del Zotto
2009 - Krieder
2010 - Dylan MacILrath
2011 - JT Miller
2012 - Brady Skjei
2013 - no pick
2014 - no pick
How many 1st rounders do we currently have that were drafted by other teams that are fairly young?
Brassard 2006 - 6th overall
Nash 2002 - 1st overall
Hayes - 2010 24th overall
McDonagh - 2007 12th overall
