Brandon Roy going to Minnesota

On the flip side, if he can even be half the player he once was, he and Love--and Rubio--are going to make one hell of a combo.

He likely won't be able to practice, play consistent minutes or back-to-back games. As for playing with Rubio, Roy needs the ball in his hands. I can see him stopping the game flow.

I'm just surprised he was cleared by doctors in the first place

Really want to know what he has had done on his knees

Andrew Perna: Here's to Brandon Roy's second tenure with Minnesota being longer than the first...

I hope Quick or someone gets a scoop on what Roy's physical looked like

Just to clarify, whatever Roy gets from Minny, that amount comes off #Blazers obligation to him. He doesn't get both salaries.

WTF thought he was allowed to double dip because he wasn't claimed off waivers, it doesn't work differently because he medically retired does it?

Tokito isn't correct that the Blazers will save the entire amount of Brandon's salary. The offset amount is equal to (assuming the $5M contract is correct) ($5M - $762,195)/2 = $2,118,902.5. Brandon will make more money than he would have otherwise. He's owed somewhere around $16M this year, so that will go down to around $13.9M, but he will also get $5M from the T'Wolves, for a total of $18.9M.

I'm pretty sure players who have been amnestied can double dip to a degree. If Roy doesn't get an extra dime, what incentive does he have to ask for $10 million instead of the minimum?

pride ?

It sucks that he's going to a division rival. Imagine if he hits a game winner for the Wolves at the end of the season to edge us out of a playoff spot. That would sting.

If he can play that long I would be amazed, IF he could pull it off I would wonder how many years of pain free walking it cost him

This sounds correct.

Imagine if Meyers Leonard gives him a few hard fouls at the beginning of that game and Brandon is in the locker room icing his knees after halftime.

Anybody else think this is a bit surreal? I can't believe . . .

A. That Brandon Roy thinks he can play again.
B. That he's going to lowly Minnesota.
C. That the Timberwolves would actually sign him for $10 million

Somebody tell me this is just a joke.

Not looking forward to the home game against BRoy. It will be emotional. It will hard not to root for him. But i won't.

He didn't medically retire -- never filed the paperwork -- Portland waived him with their amnesty provision.

There you go - S&T Batum for Roy! If Roy can actually play (knees miraculously healed) then we win! Yes, I'm just distraught and hoping this is all a bad dream....

Am I the only one holding out hope that Roy makes a successful comeback and returns to the Blazers in 2 years?

Gotta be my favorite Blazer ever.

Well you just woke me up from my dream. This nightmare is true! Are you also saying that Oden will not be playing for us next year too? What's next - - Hibbert comes to town and announces that his wife would prefer to live in a community with more Turks?

Yes you are. Roy is now evil, and must be treated as such. Besides, he won't be back.

Good Luck with the T-Pups Brandon.

Except of course, when you play the Blazers, then I hope your team loses by 50.

Thanks for not going to the Lakers.
