In their prime, who would you rather have for a solid 7 year, healthy, uninterrupted stint? B Roy or Dame?

While I love Damian, I still would pick Brandon for some reason. Dame has "Lillard time" but to me, B Roy still had more consistent magic. I wish he could have stuck around longer.

Why pick? I love/loved having both players.

Dame. It's not even a question.

And I bought a Roy jersey.

Roy was a good leader, but he wasn't Damian Lillard good. The guy was at Dave and Busters playing hoops games with a team mate who's been having trouble relaxing and just taking shots. That's not just great leadership, its brilliant.

I'm a big Brandon Roy fan but I'd still take Dame 10 times out of 10.

They're tied as my favorite Blazers ever. However if I had to pick who is better? It's tough because both are so similar but Dame is even more of a killer (which is nuts considering who we are comparing) and seems more into the community and being exposed. However the latter may be because of the social media era we are in.

Its always been and always will be Dame Time! (for reasons already stated)
Has Portland EVER seen a better leader?

Have to go with BRoy because he was the better two way player. BRoy was way better than Dame on D.

Yeah....uhhhhh no. Roy played matador defense most of his career and wouldn't even try to get in front of his guy.

Time makes the heart grow fonder for some people I guess

"Defense: A bit lackadaisical at times defensively, possibly due to the amount of responsibility he’s forced to shoulder on the other end, as well as the heavy amount of minutes he plays. Has great size at close to 6-7 in shoes, albeit an average wingspan (6-8), and is smart and athletic enough to make a solid impact here when he puts his mind to it. Knows how to get down in a fundamental stance and contain his matchup, but doesn’t always have the length to contest every shot. Adding a bit of strength could help him, as he’s susceptible to being bumped off his spot and isn’t quite always physical enough to fight back when being posted up. Has really nice timing, knows the scouting report and can make things difficult when it’s time to buck down and get a stop. Contributes on the glass as well."

And Dame/CJ compared on this site which I found fairly interesting....

I think Roy was lazy on D cause the team needed his offense (we were a stout defensive team) since the only other players that he had that could get their own shot during his tenure were Outlaw, at times Rudy, Miller and Wallace briefly. LA wasn't a guy you could dump the ball to at the time.

I think that's a bullshit notion. Roy was a MUCH better defender that Dame. Injuries turned him into a lazy defender. Before the injuries Roy was a good defender. Do you not remember the 10th game of "The Streak" when he won the game by blocking Carmelo's shot in the post?

I agree Roy was a capable defender. I also think he tended to coast on defense and save himself for the fourth quarter.
