He had a short career and unlike Walton (who also had a career shortened by injuries) he didn't dominate in college.

What makes his career hall of fame worthy?
 
No chance he makes it. Laughable he's even considered. What's his defining career achievement, winning an overtime game in the regular season?
 
While I loved his game and how the team developed during his time in PDX, even taking his late game heroics into account. I feel like his career was too short (due to injuries) and he didn’t get the team far enough( to the finals) I don’t think he is a hall of famer nor should #7 hang in the rafters or be an off limits jersey number any more.

Would love to see new ownership bring him on board in some capacity in the future.

There is no hate - I'm not a Roy hater and think its stupid people like MM that hold him trying to make a comeback against him. I could care less about Paul Allen's insurance settlement and it boggles my mind why any fan would care.

I was excited when Roy repped us again at the lottery the other year.

Wesley Matthews was one of my favorite Blazers, along with Terry Porter. If anyone talked about either of them being considered for the HOF I'd think its as equally ridiculous. Has nothing to do with how much I like or dislike a player.

Blazers just didn't accomplish enough when Roy was here and he obviously played far to short of a career. Some of the delusional Roy fanatics have had a warped sense of his importance to Blazers history IMO. I don't buy any of the claims of him saving the franchise from leaving or other nonsense.

Forget the finals - Roy didn't get them to win a playoff series. Even with HCA as the favorites the Blazers only won 2 games. Roy never helped get the Blazers more than those 2 playoff wins in a series.

Zach Randolph got the Blazers further - pushing the Mavs to game 7 after being down 0-3 once he entered the starting lineup.
 
I loved watching Roy. But he just didn't get us enough success in such a short career.
 
Its not even a conversation. Its a close-the-door-on-them kind of deal. Not even a start of a conversation.

Coming from someone who loved Roy.

Roy took this team out of the Jail Blazer era. Things were very dark for this fan base. Tons of rumors, even PA had seemed to have lost a little of his love for his favorite toy.

I think you can make an argument that Roy saved the franchise. Is that enough to make the HOF? Not really.

But there was a 2 year window where Roy was the best shooting guard in the NBA behind Kobe. If Roy had been killed in a car or plane accident, I think he would already be in the HOF based on what could have been.

Does what could have been count as much when a career is ended by injury vs death?

As much as I love Roy, he is not a Hall of Famer due to his short career and speaking of Roy

I also really love Roy and there is no question that he was on a Hall of Fame trajectory. I won't be angry if he gets the nod but I also don't expect him to get it and based on his body of work if I had a vote I'd try to be impartial about it and not vote Roy in.

Drazen had an amazing career in Europe, as much as I love Roy, Drazen's career was better
 
Garrfield HS just let him go after winning 3 3A championships with his old high school as a coach. They also let the girl's coach go..apparently they want a complete reset in their athletics department. Roy's jersey hangs in the rafters there. He'd be a good candidate to assistant coach with the Blazers or the Remix.
